Hi, I've done a search but didn't find exactly what I was looking for. There are 3 tags in a VL. 2 larger ones, and one thin one. What are the different tags for? Are they all needed for rego? or is one of them just a Holden thing? Also, I've read there's some numbers stamped on your strut tower and on the chassis somewhere? What are these and how can I locate them? Looking to do a REVS check on a car, their website says you need rego number, vin number, engine number. What if you're buying a rolling shell ? Also I read in another thread that they can be picky about tags. I had mine off for a respray and when I was taking the rivet out, it tore out the side of one of the tags. All the numbers etc. are still in tact though, can you get new tags from Holden if you give them all the details? Cheers, Pishk. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

well don't tell anyone u took them off for when u painted the vechile-just say something hit it- there is a chasis no on l/h/front strut tower only--should end in a or m adelaide or melbounre--there is no numbers any where else apart from the factory building sheet under the carpet-varies from drivers to passenger sides- u will be right if buying a body shell-just have to have records if the rta ask for it- dont worry about that raws website stuff-ring up your rta in your state give them the car details of vin no+rego if any is still on+engine no and they will tell u details on the car+for an extra $15-20.00 u should purchase the vin +no's statement and fiance check if there is any owing on it- peace of mind saves heaps of cash in the future-

The tag on the fire wall will say if its turbo motor, ENG: LW5 // N/a motor, ENG: LF1 A8(turbo motor) / A6(n/a motor) are found on your last two digits of your engine number.

the thin "colourered" tag (as in same coulour as the car) is ur vin number. which i think matches with the one on ur passengers shock tower. the other two have like body, paint, diff, engine, and suspension codes plus engine number, which is also stamped on the engine block, on the drivers side, near the front down from the alternator, near where the oil sump starts, use a torch. u WILL need the thin coloured tag cus thats ur vin, and i think u need the build plate tag which has the engine number on it. even if u have a swapped engine in ur car, its still needed (im goin by NSW rules) as for the damages tag, yeh say u were in an accident and the panel beater relaced the rivet.
