Hey all just purcashed some 4inch speakers for in my dash and also some 4 way 16 cm speakers for my doors. i purchased 6x9 awhile back. but my quierie is how would i go about hooking them all up to my headunit running them off a 600w jenson amp which is a 4 channel amp that is bridgable. im just not sure on how to hook up all 6 speakers running off and amp into my headunit. this is also on a vl if that makes a difference... if anyone could help me or has dun the same please let me know!! cheers Nick Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

hey man im from shepparton aswell, i am in the process of doing the same kind of deal you should take a drive over to mine in the future and check it out. do you want to use all new wiring?? you need to put the 4" in the dash (lets assume the magnet fits) the 16cm (whats that 6"?) in the door assuming your door doesnt already have a hole... you will need to remove the dor trim, cut a hole out of that then cut a matching hole in the sheet metal of the door. bridgeing im not so sure about but i thinjk you could just run 2 sets of speaker wire into each out of the amplifier. (1 6inch and 1 4inch off of each cahnnel) whats your next question? removing the dash speaker covers is pretty easy if you know how to do it i can give you a run down,

in terms of running them off the amp the amp needs to be 2 ohm stable in order for it to work

Don’t use the 6x9's and put the 6" in the rear.. If you run 2 diff sets of speakers from the same channels on the amp you can never tune it properly and it sounds ass...

Hey Nick, i'm a shepp boy too, have you thought about using 6in splits up the front instead of a 4in in the dash and a 6in in the door? You will get a far better sounds than two different types of speakers in the front. Personally i think that set up will suffer unless you use lots of crossover points to keep the 4in speakers from distortion down low and making sure the 6in speakers don't clash with the 4in's up high. Using a nice set of 6 or 6.5in splits will see the sound being a lot more round, a lot cleaner and will play a lot louder. The woofer would go in the door, and the tweeter would go up in the 4in dash position. Then you still get your 6 speakers (per say anyway) but with only the need of running a 4 channel amp. You can get a half decent set of 6.5 in splits from $150 if you know where your looking, and i'm more than keen to help if you would like? Give that idea a thought anyway, just due to a far better sound. Because i can gaurantee that 4way 6in in the doors and 4in for the dash are not going to sound all that pretty unless your doing alot of work with frequency crossovers. Gimme a yell if you want a hand anyway mate. Ush

Cheers guys Nick hey man, whats your ride? i am in melbourne atm, add me on your msn, ([email removed]) do you ride in a white vl thats slowly becoming a calais mockup? or an old burgundy banger? you might know my mate brett that works at coles? you would have to put the tweeter in the 4" hole in the dash and the woofer in the door,

That grey walky bloke works at Rod Wild auto elec i think, or next door anyway. My best mate knows him, can't remember his name... Nick, i'd be happy to help you out with a loud, mean system mate. Its what i do in my spare time for fun. I dunno if you have seen (or heard) the grey VY exec getting round shepp with the big stereo, i did that. Doesn't pull huge SPL numbers, but it has a perfect frequency curve so its loud throughout the lower frequencies instead of peaking at a certain frequency. I've also done a white merc in shepp, the old install in a hotted up maroon lancer (being changed at the moment) almost in the middle of doing a VX wagon, done a mechanics panel van, and also helped alot of mates out. I've done my install countless times, just keep changing it, LOL. But mate, i'm here to help out any audio buff. I used to have a champagne gold VL berlina with a fairly loud system. Pulled 134dB with a single 12 and only 450wrms, and used to play at about 130dB music wise with two 12s at 150wrms each.... And SIroller is right. The 6.5in woofer goes into the door, and the 1in tweeter goes in the standard dash spot where the 4in normally goes. Looks like pods will be the go too. But i can happily help you with that as well. Don't claim to know it all, but i'm more than happy to help out! All in the names of stereo mate.... Ush
