VL Calais
Manual RB30T
hey all, it has finally come selling my pride and joy. It's a series 2 87 calais. Paint is in excellent condition, interior is very good for it's age, only showing a bit of wear on the driver's door card.
So far is has gone 11.91@121mph on STREET tires with the old mx7 it had in it. Since then is had made another 20hp and gained a lot of top end with the new inlet. Andy (OVL087) has the same setup as this except auto with some good fuel, and went 10.8@124.8pmh with slicks.
There are many brissy guys that can attest to the speed and response of this car, the dyno figures don't do it justice.

Free bump for Grant, I can vouch for this car, no corners cut, a beautiful machine & the figures to match.
Best of luck with the sale Grant.
Cheers, Nick
Reading that just breaks my HEART grant, The byer of this will not be dissapointed, this car is truly amasing and with now coin to spend, is worth every sent, G/L grant, i'll missing seeing her...
I can also vouch for this car being as clean and well modified as grant tells you. no dodgey **** about it..
My car with the very same tune as wat grant has in his motec, went 11.65 at 4 mph less, mine being auto with inferior engine gear to grants car.. So with an auto this is definately 10 second capable car with the same power as wat it already is making.
Best of luck with the sale Grant.. u can ride in mine from now on if u need a hit :P hahaha
I can't believe I'm reading this thread
Good luck with the sale Grant... I'm sure you've thought long and hard about this

no, split desicion today. I'm still in love with the car, but my bank balance can't handle the constant drain of two cars while still living and doing what i want to do... buying something that will be just as fun, but nowhere near as quick...
Do the thongs in the interior pic come with the car????
on a serious note though, i can only reiterate everyone above. Damn good car, no short cuts. its a pity you have decided to sell and i'm sure you will miss the car once it goes.

Thongs need to be retreaded if they are with the car.
But once again... I can't believe your selling. Think long and hard about it. Too late to regret it once it's gone.
don't worry too much guys, it's pretty bloody hard to sell a modified VLT these days. i predict it'll take you a fair while to find a buyer, so enjoy it while you can!
At first i thought you were asking about 3 or 4k too much, but when you think about what's been done to this car, it's set up on so many levels. (Bottom end, turbo, head, computer, drivetrain, rear end, brakes, looks, clean, still stock looking at first glance- Everything really.). It looks and sounds like beautiful example. Love the red interior too.
It will be hard to find someone wanting to spend 20k on a VL but it's defaintely worth it.
Good luck Tempest.
ok.. just to add it up.

That's just the stuff i can think of, without taking into account the two hundred bucks of redline oil in it, the new radiator, the new throttle cable, the proper deutsch connectors throughout the wiring, the heat wrapped wiring, the solid shortened shifter, the new rear rotors, the new flywheel bolts, new radiator overflow bottle, bushes and suspension, tuned and running, the rust cut out from under the front windscreen and welded back up (NOT bogged), and allowing only 3K for the shell. my point> everything has been done properly, i have replaced everything that was in doubt or needed doing. This is a running, fast street car, done properly, not on the cheap. If you are interested shoot me a PM.
i should also add that includes NO labour, which would be another 10K to put it all together and make it work...
Yes I can attest to the power and speed of this calais, I am a big fan of this car, whoever purchases this will definately enjoy the ride of their life.
All thoses figures, as any car fan knows would be on the conservative side, to build a car as well rounded and highly modified as this takes mega dollars, and R&D to make it as reliable and fast as this car is.
Sad to see it go Grant
Robert...
Also been a passenger in this car a couple of times...its a great car to be in and has the power to boot.
Good luck with the sale mate...im sure if you truly added up what u spent from day one on getting this car to what it is today it would be in excess of 40k+, to get in and drive this away for 20g you getting a great reliable ball tearer of a car.
