i hear Ford are getting rid of the in-line six and using a new V6 engine for there Falcons.
does that mean thats the end of XR Turbos or maybe a new twin turbo setup, one on each bank of cylinders.
where did you hear that???
cant see that happening at all, considering the plant and everything is all built setup and running smoothly right here..
then again i wouldnt be surprised either, inline engines will be obsolete everywhere soon

Its on teh news man
lol.. well theres far far better motors out there.
the only good thing about inlines is their layout with regards to accesibility, the simple straight design makes working on them a damn breeze compare to V engines, and obviously they have a purpose for a 4cylinder engine.. besides that, it all goes down hill
a lot heavier, more expensive, bigger, cost more, less efficient, less smooth...
everyone manufacturer, even your beloved nissan replaced its rb with a v6, bmw and volvo would be some of the only people producing them right now, which will soon change.
Meh RB30 isnt turning into a V6 i'm not worries
Dont think i'll be buying any new cars from the Ford stable any time in the next 40 years.
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

LOL... straight engines are less effient and smooth? i take it you don't nderstand the concept of torque whip?
the only downsides of straight engines are size and cost which is why they lose out as far as manufactures are concerned. i got a video of the old Audi straight 16 race cars now those were motors, although they were so long they always had crankshaft problems. then went to the nice and smooth supercharged straight 12s. not bad for 1930's race cars able to do over 300k's
One thing I've always loved about Falcons was their Inline 6, as opposed to the Vsh*t (V6) used in Commodores.
The Barra is a gem, and it's a shame to se it go. Maybe the Commodore V6 will be able to match the Falcon now, since the Barra pretty much ass raped the Alloytec in everyway.
something like this might just make the last of fords inline 6's a very hot product in years to come. Ford took a massive hit with it axed the v8 with the xf's and it's taken this whole time to start pegging holden back with the BA range of cars. just seems they just dont know when they are on a good thing over there. The new v6's will have to be something very special to match the inline's. doubt we will see a turbo in the range either.
they are more then likely going to use one of the duratech engines (possibly the 3.5L) from america/europe, from what I have read thus far.
still early days, however these engines already meet the latest euro emission standards, so more then likely...
i can gurantee my vn manual wagon with a chip and a 2 and a half inch exhaust would beat any standard vl with the same mods they are more powerfull and i believe they run alot smoother and that doesnt mean im baggin vls i just know the v6s are quiker

Thats a great quote to go tell the employees losing there jobs. Not taking the p*ss, its just pretty ironic.
Even GM are looking at a smaller capacity twin turbo V6 coming out of Europe as a possible new toy to play with. Times are a changing peoples

So um because they're faster, that means they're better?
I believe there's sh*tloads more to a engine, then how fast it can make a car go. If it wasn't for the 3800 having a fair amount of torque, no one would touch one, because lets face it, they weren't exactly a engineering masterpiece for their time. Atleast the RB30E was 20 years ahead of it's time, compared to every other engine Holden had used before. Although most VN owners only seem to care about their 15 second V6s, beating cars with smaller, less powerful engines. *shrugs*
It's almost as if they're too scared to race anything other then a N/A Auto VL Executive or Toyota Yaris.
