As the title states my brother has a problem with his gts it seems to struggle and stall when cold and even warm have to keep the revs up to stop it from stalling it also struggles and make's a really weird pop type of sound when taking off dunno what it could be but just wandering what you's would think its stock as a rock 215i with 135xxx kms on it i thought it maybe a head gasket but the water isnt milky at all and checked under the oil cap and it's clean as better than my mums 04 pulsar ! has anyone had a similar problem? or does someone know what could cause such a thing? Any help would be much appreciated Regards Hus Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Sounds like fuel or spark, but most likely spark. Check out the plugs / leads etc, drop around to an auto elec.

sounds like it could be a module related problem, drop it round to an auto elec. if that's the problem, drop me a PM for prices on parts to fix it hurry up though, im leaving this work in a week LOL Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

hmmm acouple of other things not mentioned. timing too low. base idle needs a reset ecu has shyted itself. (you'll know cause if you kick it and comes good it'll be that) lol it's an old holden diagnostic technique Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Try another coil before you buy one, check the fuel pump relay and take off the fuel hose and turn on the reds for fuel flow, check all sensor connections, check your hose clamps on the airbox intake, check everything before you pay some one.

dont those computers log fault codes when some thing like this stuffs up, ie. ignition or electrical ? take it to some one with an tek2 computer and they should know with in mins. (i think there called Tek 2 computer not 100%)

sorry for the late reply boys i was in sydney and couldnt get on to a computer there i replaced the following parts today and it seems to be alot better Sparks, LEADS ( Morgz i couldnt agree more mate i basically dnt have knuckles anymore), Oil, Oil Filter,Fuel Filter and it seems to be alot better doesnt make that dodgy pop sound anymore The plugs were bad but i though it would have been worse although 1 had a crack in the ceramic pretty sure that would of caused it ay? and when i was in syd on military rd i spotted a very nice Red over silver calais , big front mount , nice wheels had custom plates but i didnt get a good look it started with S if the owner is on here that thing is absolutely gorgeous

(i think there called Tek 2 computer not 100%) generally on a V8 they are still using a lot of old technology and the ECU only monitors acouple of things if your ECU fails it can sometimes not log anything cause it goes offline so to speak. its usually caused by dry solder joints on the PCB, kinda the same thing as what happens with the DFI module when it stalls for no reason. The scan tool you're referring to is Tech 1(VL Walky-VS3) Tech 2 (VT-current) but back on topic this pop you're referring to, is it a miss or just a pop from the engine like a higher comp type sound (hard to describe) coming from the exhaust? but yeah when you clean the throttle body get the base idle done cause it sounds like it is out of whack.

thanks lowbstvl i'll give the base idle a shot im pretty sure its from the exhaust but sometimes it does sound like a miss i try free reving it in park to see where it is but it must only do it when theyres a load on the motor ie: driving etc also today as we were going to a mates place cruising not thumpn it we get to a set of lights as we slow down it stalls/turns off its really gettin irritating

i had this problem with my vnss, turned out to be ECU issue and the leads/plugs just topped it off.. went from chipped ecu to microtech and fixed issue right away aswell as changed leads/plugs.

hi people, i just had the same problem with my vn v8. all i did was pull the throttle off then pulled the throttle possition sensior and idle stepper motor off and cleaned it with carbie cleaner, i gave the throttle a good clean too (i think i went through about 4 cans of carbie cleaner) put it all back together with a half a turn of the iddle possition screw and it runs sweet ! but if you are keen you can replace both sonsors for under $100 from your local holden dealer, hopes this helps, cheers theres my two cents worth
