Hi guys,
I'm curious to hear if anyone who has purchased this kit has had any problems at all regarding the pipes blowing apart on boost?
I am only running the standard 7psi (no boost controller) and on full load one pipe will blow off. if i get that connection tight enough, it just finds the next weak spot until there is a spot that i can not do tight enough.
i have even gone to lengths of using better clamps to tighten it up, but the angles of how the pipes join, plus the room that the hose has before it hits a bend just isn't enough surface area to hold the pressure. Also if i do it too tight it bends the pipes, and still blows off.
Ill give Greg a call tomorrow, I've had the kit for a fair while trying to make it all work, but i just feel as if I've bought a dodge product. i would rather have one last try on things that i should do to make it work before i give Greg a call, for the main reason that i seam to be the only one with the problem.
cheers for any feed back guys.

have u used the heavy duty clamps ?
if you are, nothing will blow them apart. except maybe a grenade... maybe.

have the ends of the piping been rolled at all to prevent this?
if not, take the pipes down to an exhaust shop and get them to weld a few tacks together around the end of the pipes to try to stop them blowing off?

I got one of gregs kits, the ends have been rolled and havn't had a problem with pipes blowing off, even with the clamps that he supplied and thats on 11psi

its weird that your kits blow off.. im using my bodgy home made pvc pipes running 14psi and the only place it used to blow off was at the pod adaptor side of the AFM..
all i did was switch to a metal adaptor and a big fcuker of a clamp and problem solved...
i say go down to purple pig in bayswater and get some of their hard core clamps for like 4 bucks each

the extra clamps I'm using are heavy clamps, but like i said if i do it too tight then i bend the pipes.
yes the pipes do have sleeves, but its not something that i would be proud of, some are quite flat and really don't do a thing (lucky to be a few mil high).
i have a friend who is a panel beater/welder and i have spoken to him about welding like a metal sleeve on the ends so that i can do the clamps really tight, but he said you cant weld onto the aluminum.

Ive purchased on of these kits of greg and have re-located my afm in the pipeing. At the start it blew of because my silicon joiner was big then when i placed a smaller joiner there was no problem im using cheap 2 dollar clamps from bunnings and i havnt had any problems. Hes kits are pretty good.

in that case... cant u like take it to an exhaust place
and they have that machine that can roll the edge out to a larger size
ive seen some pipe offcuts ive got lying around
theyve been like... pressed from the inside which creates like a lip about 5mm from the edge
i dunno how to describe it.. its been like pressed out from the inside, with no welding at all... kinda like this dodgy picture i drew:

28-06-07, 18:56 GMT+10#11 Best way i hav seen is weld a couple of alluminium nuts on the pipes and run a piece of metal from one to the other held on by a bolt, tis a lot to do tho there is no way it will blow off if u do that.

29-06-07, 12:29 GMT+10#17 If you have bead rolled pipes it will not be the pipes! I had the first kit in aus which was a trial kit that had no bead rolling at all. With the cheap clamps I had one blow off in 6 months!
Which pipe is coming off? If it is turbo to cooler have you rotated the ac hose and ps hose if your car is a series 2? If so the pipe could be too high causing an incorrect angle!
If it is cooler to TB have you fitted a bracket on the bottom pipe where the tabs are to support the pipe? Most of the kits I have seen fitted nobody puts a bracket on the supplied tabs. I made one in 5 mins and it stops any chance of the pipes moving at all!
