D - Double Overhead Cam
E - Electronic Fuel Injection
T - Turbo
## - The capacity (3.0L, 2.6L, 2.5L, 2.0L)
RB - Aparently means Race Bred
So an RB30ET is a single cam 3L with electronic fuel injection and a single turbo
RB30DET is a twin cam 3L with electronic fuel injection and a single turbo
There we go if that doesnt answer ur question i dont know wat will haha
so ur saying vl's had double overhead cam or is that with a BR25 head?

lol to easy thanks
no VL ever came out with an RB30DET, this is done using the RB25/RB26 head on the RB30 Block
I dont think any car ever came out with an RB30DET (Or was there a tommy kiara skyline made with one? dont remember, have a funny feeling it was the 2.8L version of the RB26DETT in this)
Someone might be able to confirm that
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
has anyone here done a RB25-26/RB30 conversion let me no, was it much work? i bet a few $$$$ to do it

Been done by a few ppl, try ur luck on SAU forum, should find some info on it here to
think u have to get aftermarket computer and new pistons but other then that its all fairly easy, think theres an oil galley or something that doesnt line up but thats the only problem
not sure i only have limited knowledge on it

RB25 head you need to meld up some water jackets thats all. RB26 goes straight on. the only thing is the 26 head has 12mm head bolt holes and the rb30 block has 11mm makes very little differenes at all really. 25 head has 11mm head bolt holes. To make the rb 26/30 or 25/30 you need to use RB25 head bolts for both. Even those the 25 in only 11mm, if you go 12mm on a rb26 you need to re-tap the block to suit.
I have some friends who have just did the rb25/30 set up on a Stock series 2 N/A engine. with a GT35 turbo set up , making mid 400HP at the rears!!! get for a fast street set up. I am just about finished my 26/30 set up..... i will post power out puts. Using a HKS T51R SPL BB.
RB does not = Race Bred.
They're just letters to differentiate different motors, theres no meaning.
some poeple say that in diffrent models RB stands for " inline 6 petrol "
its just the japs trying to use our alphabet ( as symobs )

RB may not mean officially mean Race Bred, but it gives it a bit of a meaning and sounds fairly cool
not sure where they get the RB, CA, SR..... etc letters from for there engines but oh well
the last one i done cost 5500 with me supplying everything with forged pistons and beefed up rods throttle response is killer and power is never ending it just doesnt stop pulling

No such thing as a RB30DET from factory, its a custom made hybrid made using the RB30 block and RB25 or RB26 head. R32's came with RB20DET's.

About 15k to do it properly, starting with absolutely zero bolt ons (cooler etc).
