I was talking to a mechanic before looking for some parts for a turbo conversion and he told me that once you sell it, it must be at minimum the same condition as a vlt would drive out of a dealership, as in the front rotars, calipers, pads, hoses, master cylinder and brake booster must be upgraded from NA to Turbo and the drums on the rear must be replaced with a disc to disc diff...just curious to see if either other people have heard this or is it BS...
it was an old GTR one from my mates, but apparently they had ripped out the diff im not 100% sure i got GTS-T in the converted one...i know i should do the brakes which i will but im just curious to know if its legal not too...
maybe it isnt GTR but i know they're 4wd...not fussed its not in anymore...i know i should do the brakes and i am going, i was just curious if it is legal or not...
Legal OR safety....mmmmmm I will go for the safety aspect of updating the brakes...besides updating the motor all you would hvae to do is whack in a VLT/V8 brake booster adn front brakes...drum arse end is of no great concern just looks ugly when exposed when you have nice rims on it.

Stop smoking drugs.
when i looked into this a year or so ago, to have it legally registered in victoria as a turbo it must comply to the minimum specs of an original VL Turbo.
thats vic tho, might be different for nsw

I've looked into this as i've got a calais and a sl the calais body is shagged so i wanted to fit up the turbo stuff to the sl you basically have to have the car fitted with the same stuff as if was a factory turbo car ie brakes, booster etc it what my rego place told me i needed to do to pass it. but for me it basically a swap parts affair

no, they arent bad, not too good either... my Calais is a conversion, my Berlina is a factory VLT, they both pull up about the same really... all that is left on the Calais to make it "VLT spec" is the front brakes and the diff... no where on the rego papers (NSW) does it say anything about the vehicle being turbocharged on either vehicle (apart from engine numbers for those in the know) so it begs the question, if you were to sell it, where would you come unstuck? the mechanic doin' the roadworthy looking at the diff and knocking it back for being 25 spline? i doubt they would go to the hassle... if the conversion is done properly and all safety/emission equipment is working as they should, i cant see how the car would get knocked back
