My mates VL got stolen outside of his house the otherday. Found out he didnt have insurance, so he's more or less up **** creek without a paddle. Another mates VL Turbo got stolen a few weeks after he got it a while back, turns out he didnt have insurance either.
So it got me thinking, how many of you guys actually have insurance that covers theft? I know personally I wouldnt bother having a car if I couldnt pay for insurance.

insurance is always going to be cheaper then replacing a stolen car or paying for damages to your car or someone else that you may hit in an accident...

I see it this way though, if you cant afford insurance, you shouldnt be driving a car.

Although insurance premiums for a car the age of a VLT are ridiculous. You cant blame someone for not wanting to pay up to $3k a year when the car's only worth $6-15k...
I have third party on the VLT and the Torrie's still being built, although that'll have full comp. My bike has nothing but I dont ride it often. When I upgrade that it'll have full comp.

16-06-07, 19:59 GMT+10#13 If you dont disclose each and every single mod on your VL come claim time they will nail your balls to the wall anyway....dont kid yourselves and think that them inspetors dont know what theyre looking for....and im sure if we all disclosed ALL our mods the premiums or offers for coverage would change dramatically with most of us not even being able to insure out cars full stop.

17-06-07, 12:46 GMT+10#14 i have full comp, cost me $1300 a year agreed value of $10k, i just got the renewal letter they have dropped my preimum to $1200 but they also dropped my agreed value to $8700, i asked why the agreed value has dropped they said the car had depriciated in value.... so im not seeing the point of having an agreed value if they are gonna drop it every year by thousands and only lower your preimum by $100. in a couple of years time my primium will be higher than my agreed value at this rate... i dont know if all insurance companys are like this but next time you get your statement have a good look over it.

Police have cracked down on that loophole, if you have a car under somebody for longer then 30days, you can get a $81 fine if pulled over.

man you talk ****. My mates ahve all had their insurances under their folks names for coming on 5 years. All been pulled up NUMEROUS times and never been fined. Trust me if it was possible to fine someone for that they would of taken my mates to the cleaneres many times over by now.

19-06-07, 16:00 GMT+10#18 i remember being told my insurance was going to be near enough 3k to insure it for 6.5k. absolute bull****, as a young driver i can understand why people dont have it, i wish we all lived in a perfect world where we could throw 3k down the drain EVERY year. I would rather put 3k aside and if my car is stolen put the 3k into the new one. 3k x 3yrs = 9 grand , more than what they were going to pay me, so id rather get a good alarm and take the gamble
