Just wondering what rights do we have in protecting our cars etc.
I mean if i hear my alarm going off and i run outside what rights do i have. Most car theives carry tools and some even have weapons. Are we meant to just let them take it or can we protect it.
I personally would have no hesitation is smacking someone senseless if i caught them trying to steal my car. but then can i get in trouble? I know more and more people are frustrated with being broken into and it's only a matter of time before someone takes matters into their own hands. There has to be some kinda law that allows people to protect their property from these low lifes.
On the news last week a couple kids stole a 4wd and police chased them and they crashed with 1 being in a very bad way. But all the people are saying is "oh it's the police's fault because they chased them" not 1 person said "serves the little *******s right maybe next time they will think twice"
We are in the 6 month of the year and already had 2 attempts on stealing my calais (now sold) and 1 stolen falcon. Police are basically powerless to control the situation. if they catch them (maybe 1 in 100 get caught) they are just given slaps on the wrists and released.

yell out at a potential thief and call '000' , it's that simple
it isn't worth your life trying to 'protect' your car or house or any property
don't take the law into your own hands, you could even be hurting an innocent bystander
protect your home and car by always locking them, install an immobiliser in your car and insure it
locked to prevent the usual BS
contact police if you want further info re what to do
a good reason to never fight for your car, your own life or the life of others isn't worth it:
"Man critical after dragged by a car
Friday Jun 8 08:45 AEST
A man was left in a critical condition after a hit-and-run incident in which he was dragged more than 30 metres under a car police believe was stolen.
The car sped off as the man, aged in his 30s, lay in the car park of a McDonald's restaurant at Preston in Melbourne's north around 1am (AEST) on Friday morning.
Police say the driver of the car had emerged from the restaurant and hit the man as the car reversed.
The victim was wedged under the car and dragged for 30 to 40 metres before the vehicle turned into St Georges Road.
Police are looking for a maroon or burgundy Valiant with a black vinyl roof."
