i second that notion. nothing compares to the rb30! single cam or twin cam thats just your choice.
^^^^ yes it is a good combo, no matter what stick to a 3.0lt bottom end
and also with the 26 head's on 30 bottomend is'nt cheap and there are plenty of RB30 heads donig good time's so y bother
3540 with .86 rear and twin cam you can have more revs better throttle response and few other goodies

well for the street you really would want something that spools quick the bigger you go the more lag you will get, i previously had a T3 running 15PSI it would get to 15psi at 2700RPM's so no lag really at all, but it would run out of puff up top but for the street these's days it was fine...
i got in a 300RWKW XR6Turbo the other day a hell of alot of lag nothing below 4000RPms
but yeah alot of people are going for GT35/40's
my next combo is a hi/mount with a TO4E should be on the road with in two weeks
if you wanna rebuild and strengthen up just use yours as a starting platform and then throw all the goodies in, forged pistons, forged rods, camshaft and all the other crap that goes along with building a new package, you gotta know what you want before you start
all depends on your budget and how fast you want to go champ, sometimes doesnt hurt looking around these forums because there is always a good deal to be found.

all you need for an rb30 is a set of pistons and a good camshaft, as big as possible, 35/40 with either .82 or 1.06 depending gearbox, auto/manual. standard rods can handle up to 30psi so don't be scared to put boost into it.
Ive had both single n twin cam id personally build it with forgies, rods and cams leave the crank, put a rb25 head or 26 if u can afford it..
High reving is sweet as, my sil goes to 8200rpm
RB30/26DET 35/40
RB30ET - Awesome street torque (my pick)
RB25DET - Revvy but not quite as much torque, good with light mods but later on the 3l takes over as you move into more heavily modified engines
RB20DET - Don't even bother, absolute boat anchor, they sound good and that's it, good as a throw away motor you get em for less than 1k
RB26DETT - Excellent, but not worth the issues of fitting it into a vl
Hybrid motors - Obviously the best, but by far the most expensive.

Because not everything is about running good times!
