wat sounds better on carby v8.. 3 inch exhaust or 2 1/2 inch???

It's not a question of sound you should be worried about. I don't have any experience with VL 5L but I'm sure there's some common wisdom about exhausts, depending, of course on how worked or not your engine is. Take the time to research it and finding an exhaust combination to best suit your car, you'll get good sound and better power. If you're just about sound, get a cannon.

Bloke at my work had a 308 not sure on engine mods but had a single 3inch 1 cat 1 muffler sounded pretty tuff and lumpy. And i have and injected 5 litre in mine with single 2 1/2 same 1 cat 1 muffler stock headers and at idle it quiet but once you give it a little it'll make a bit of noise. Hope it helps

Depends on how much work you have done to your engine?? If it was stock/mild I would put twin 2 1/4 with twin hot dogs as close to the front of the car as possible. This sounds and performs well. If your motor is worked I would go for twin 2 1/2 with twin mufflers and dump into twin 3 inches.

if its standard you wont need any bigger than 2.5"

I cut the exhaust off on my stato and just put some pipes with 2 hot dogs. Its a twin 2 inch exhaust. Sounds like a monster truck crossed with a tractor. Not the best sounding V8 Ive heard, but very very loud.

Get twin 2.5" pipes. I went twin 2.25 and regretted it from day one... too quiet. Sounds nice but too quiet. Id go up to twin 2.5s next time 100%. That's on a VK 308 motor.

I personally like the sound of a single 3" with a 2 chamber Flowmaster dumping just before the diff

If its standard no bigger than single 2.5'' worked go twin 2.5''

twin 2.5in into single 3 dumping over the diff. This setup can make an LS1 sound tough it will make anything sound tuff

Very quiet. Theyre straight through mufflers too. I also have a 350 with mandrel bent twin 3 inch pipes and hookers... thats fairly loud.. maybe a touch too loud for every day driving. Personally, ive experienced a few different setups and i would go for twin 2.5's next time if i get the chance. Yes it's a bit loud, but only if you're standing on it. Thats what you have a V8 for anyway, right? I almost feel that i have wasted my money on my twin 2 1/4's.

Pacemakers into twin 2.5' pipe work into X pipe into twin 2.5' magnaflow stainless mufflers or hooker aerochamber mufflers, then into a single 3' and a removable 3' resonator over the diff. and if u want it louder u can take the tail pipe off good luck and let us all know how you go Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Agree with mrTUFFER, pretty much excatly what i have, but i have no rear reasonator in the 3inch pipe. Then you get asked if your V8 is a turbo or a standard 6 with an exhaust while waiting at the lights , idiots Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I started it up and sat it at 6500rpm while he stood at the back... 'YOU RECKON ITS A ROTOR NOW?' hahahaahahaha Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

It all depends on what kind of work has been done to your engine. Just becasue you throw a 3" on there and it sounds great, and loud, doesn't nessesarly mean you will get the best performance.. So yeah, do a little research, and you'll end up with the best..

This is mine... Injected 304, Coby headers, 2.5” Y pipe into single 3"… flowmaster 2 chamber in the middle and a 12” resonator at the end

mines carby, 2.5'' extractors to 3'' pipe, cat, muffler, tip. Sounds good but, if you want that tru v8 note, go this but with straight through muffler (not cannon type). I dont think twin exhaust would be worth the cost. p.s. put a dump tip on the end, sounds better plus stops carbon going on ya bumper. p.p.s. WTB straight throught muffler and dump tip :-)
