i need to get my car running ASAP.
i have found myself in another hole and yeah.. im getting the head fixed coz it was fk'd up (like the bottom end i bought). Ive been given some prices regarding another bottom end, too handle "a lot" of power (forged rods and pistons etc etc etc) but I cant get the amount of money RIGHT NOW unless i get a loan, which i don't really wanna do at the present.
so what i was thinking bout doing is -
i can get a rebuilt na motor (was supposedly rebuilt recently and was prepared for a rb25 head conversion) so it still has the na pistons, and ive been told it has a rb25 oil pump.
would this run well enough with my 26head and if so what "precautions" would i have to take? (other than limiting the amount of psi & revs, i have a gt35/40, 550cc injectors, microtech ltx12 and a 044 fuel pump)
i have seen some na powered cars run decent times, would this be able to make decent power on lets say 15psi? and if it could do 12s (or less) at the drags i'd be fairly pleased, if it lasts and can handle a thrashing while i save up for the good motor. i just want something thatll be quick and fun to drive, so to speak
ta
edit
also woops this is meant to be in the technical section... im tired and stuff :P
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
yeah it will do 15psi ben! just do it, your car has been off the road long enough.... if it pops you have nothing to lose.
yeah ud run a 12 easily mine does it easy on 14psi and i only got the single cam... baby turbo etc.
this is the same as i am building at the moment, cant see any dramas, just keep the fuel ratio's on the richer side rather than leaner when on boost. i was going to limit the rpm to 6500 too. probably thinking 15 psi would be on the money, sounds good, let us know how you go.
cylinder 1 looking dodgy. piston hit it a 'few times'
valves "bent"/buggered.
im gonna recon it, ill do porting and cams etc later
and mark i dunno if itd run 15psi :/ running 15psi with a "small" turbo is enough for an n/a motor lol... id run whatevers safe :/
but yeah, ideally i wouldnt wanna do this coz its dodgy and sh*t and i'd rather fork out "X,XXX" amount of dollars to get a fullysik bottom end but... yeah if i dont have the money, and if i cant afford to pay more for ANOTHER loan i may have to do this dodgy conversersion for now, aslong as it doesnt break after 1 month of "mild thrashing" and the bottom end somehow doesnt hurt my precious 26head :P
me - so what oil pump?
justin is gay - i put a "N1" pump in it
-----------------------------------------
F A G!!!
when i got applied to check it they showed me this old n dirty piece of sh*t, and im like "that isnt an N1 pump is it lol" and theyre like "nah, just a very very old rb30 one"
MOTHERFU CKER!!!!
and yahoo, "someone" banned me from posting in a workshop related thread...
Yeh remember reading on the SAU forums, that there are plenty of skylines running the rb30 na bottom end and making crazy power, with cast pistons still in them.

wow cool.
heaps of them say "standard bottom ends"
is that na std or et std?
eh either way, theres heaps of them making 400rwhp, through manuals... *******s, so should i bother getting an N1 pump if its already got a 25?
I've been running a 25 head with a stock N/A bottom end for over 2 years now. Daily driven 5 speed on 15psi with 260rwkw.
You won't have any probs as long as the tune is spot on.

then again what pump did that guy use? will the rb25 pump be enough?
He used a s/h rb20det pump. From memory its done over ~40,000km's; 20,000km's at 240rwkw, 20,000km's at 312rwkw and now how many ever kays he's done making 370rwkw.

If I were in the same position as the thread op I would buy a cheap running rb30e from a pranged VL or R31 with good comp, throw a dohc oil pump on it and bolt the head on. Get it up and running.
Keep rev's under 7000rpm.
While you thrash the nackers out of it. Build up a tough rb30 bottom end with rods, pistons, full length oil pump drive, good rod bolts and swap them over.
