Well guys/girls...i have been tossing up with the idea of a vl turbo for a while now however the one thing that keeps me away from getting one is the idea that it WILL be stolen one day.
Now, i would be getting one as a daily driver which would involve me taking it to uni (bundoora) and such so obviously i would invest in a good pager alarm and anti-theft mods etc...but i am still reluctant to get one.
So i am calling out to everyone who uses a vlt as a daily driver and where they drive to/park etc...does anyone drive one and park at a university or workplace? Any experiences that have been had would be appreciated as this is the only thing stopping me from getting one.
General opinions are also very welcome.
Thanks.
If you park it, the theives will come!
Personally, I wont park my VLT anywhere but its garage, and thats not even at my house, cause it's to easy for people to find out where I live.
OCD? Maybe, but hey, I know its safe...

Maybe I dont have OCD???
Yeah well i would be going from country area only 45 from city (literally no-one lives out near our lil town so chances of it being stolen out here are VERY slim, and i'm not joking) down to bundoora probably 3/4 days a week so yeah...pager alarms any good if they are high end? Would hopefully be able to get out to carpark within a min or so if anything happened.
Yeah badluck bout ur car picket, was nice..saw it at the salon.
m8 it doesnt matter what you own, if they want it they will take it. My suggestion is dont go parading you have a vlt, just drive it and take all the precautions you can. Make sure you have fully comp and just think about where you leave it i.e plain view to all, well lit areas etc etc
vl's are a big target these days and especially if its a turbo, and plus leaving it at a uni carpark id assume it would be big and not that hard for theives to steal from, id say get your vl turbo that u always wanted and get a crap daily driver. i got a daily too n now my civic comes out on weekends only

yeah dude get the vlt, just get all the kill switches you can, and custom alarm install(hidden where it cant be reached easily).
mine had good security system, but was taken in 5 - 10 mins of being left at carpark! they new exactly what to do
all i can say mate is an immobiliser sorry spelt wrong very tired and a clublock the new immobiliser thingys have gps on them so you can find where your car is so yer.
Sorry for bad spelling.

You could leave your keys in the unlocked civic and still not worry about it being pinched

Well I've thought of this many times, my VL as it is looks quite mint. However, it doesn't stop those idiots who think they can come right up to it and look to see if it is worth stealing, my advice is simple park it in a common area or where there is constant sight of it.
in all honesty
i have never thought about my vl getting stolen in the past, leave it all night in crown car park, out in the street at mates n go out, car parks in the city...no ones ever touched it! but now i will never park it anywere again once i get it back

i used to park my vl anywhere and everywhere.. got solex locks, and i'd leave it kinda inbetween park and reverse so it wouldnt start first try... i never cared, and nothing ever happened to it (except for idiots opening their doors into it in shopping centre carparks)
the only reason i dont leave it unattended now is cause im too paranoid about my paint getting scratched lol
my advice: get decent locks, get an alarm and a club lock, and drive the thing!
and dont park it at dodgy train stations lol

i'm havin heart failure at the thought... the scratches alone...
Assholes have tried to steal my calais twice. Alarm and immobiliser stopped them. They only tried again the other night 5am alarm went off and i went out running with the biggest knife i had.
pager alarm with an immobiliser is about as good as you can get to slow them down. but like others have said park it where others can see it so if they try and steal it they will be seen and most of the time wont bother.
I got a pic of the dude who tried to steal my car let me know if you see him.

Ok well ur either at RMIT or Latrobe uni. I'm at RMIT and honestly aslong as you park in the multistory or the car park next to it ur pretty much safe there are so many cars going through there its not funny and security is always around driving up and down. i have not yet heard of a car being stolen or broken into and all levels have cameras on them. Aslong as you have a decent alarm and immobiliser, kill switch etc you should be fine...
I daily drove mine for over a year before I pulled it off the road, that was with custom paint and trim, parked it at work in a supermarket carpark etc was fine, used to live in the street outside my house too.
Bundoora is pretty good, I leave mine on the street outside a mates house a bit and never had an issue neither has he with his VLT.
