Fella's, Can some-one post a pic of the latch that the bonnet cable is attached too. I got under the car yesterday but could only see the hole where the bonnet pin/spring sits in. Thus, I need to know where to place the screw driver so that the bonnet releases? Thanks, BONNETS FIXED. The outer retaining clamp bolt hole was stripped and was not allowing sufficient clamping pressure on cable outer. Joel.

is the cable still intact? if so pull the lever and at the same time hit the bonnet on the drivers side edge as far foward as you can reach alternatively get someone to push down slightly near the catch as you pull the lever

The bonnet will pop if some-one presses down on it but it has now become harder to do this. Thats why i need a pic of what to release from underneath the nosecone.....

As mentioned, un-do the bonnet release handle next to your kick panel and pull on the whole thing, should be enough to pop the bonnet... Then just get a new bonnest cable and put it in... Do it as soon as you can, because it sucks when you snap the cable or the handle strips off and ya have to pull the cable with pliers everytime (which is getting annoying, as I havent been bothered to put my new one in.. haha)

Okay, Got RACQ to pop it (they pulled the cable with some pliers). Anyway fitted a new cable and it popped for the first 3 times but now it seems like it doesn't want to pop, like there is to much slack now on the inner cable. Thus, how do I pop it manually without damaging my new cable and is there a way you can adjust the cable to be tighter? This cable design is fu$ked.........what the fu$k were Holden engineers smoking when they came up with this idea? Joel.

i had this problem when i took my bonnet of for a motor transplant. i fixed it byt adjusting my bonnet, cos it was slightly forwards too much or back too much. if you can get it so it right in the middle, its allways alot easier to open.

Quote: To get your bonnet open you can get under the car with a torch and long screwdriver and there is the bonnet release mechanism. There is a cable that you push to the side and it allows the bonnet to pop. If you still cant get it to pop you can use the screwdriver to undue the threaded rod the holds the bonnet down, just unscrew to you undue.. Okay found this with a search. So is this cable located where the strike pin shuts down onto the nose panel?

is the cable hooked up along the with the pin things that trap it along the support panel and guard??? that should keep it taught...

where the cable runs in front of the radiator.. there is a little adjuster type clip with a 6mm? bolt through it. temporary fix is to loosen move cable slightly. tighten, untill it works better (not permanant fix for stretched cable)

My cable snapped about 5cm from the lever and I did the whole pliers thing to pop the bonnet without a problem but can’t get the old white plastic mould part that holds the lever inside the car to come off so that I can put the new cable in. Is there a trick to getting this mould and the lever out or should I just try a bit harder and rip it out? Tim

Bonnet cables are so annoying. I replaced mine, and the tensioner bolt that keeps the cable from moving is threaded. Still pops, but can be a kunt.

Tim get a screw driver and lever the plastic towards you, dont matter if you snap it, comes with the new cable. anyone else with this problem i suggest you buy a new cable from holden, i broke three sh*tty ones from a wreckers before coming to this conclusion and haven't had a problem since.
