Right, so is turbo doable on that sort of budget? It has to be reliable, want to keep it auto and engineerable (QLD)

yeh man, should be able to pick up a complete turbo engine with bolt ons for around 2grand mark, prob cost u around 700 for complete fitment, then maybe lsd diff, another 700 there (i think) and tranny you can get for under 400 nowadays.

Mate what I'd do is a turbo conversion, you wont need a new exhaust from cat back as 2.5" will do. and N/As with turbo boltons have proven to last if treated properly. I'd just throw on a stock turbo setup, front mount cooler and a vt brake upgrade. a 28spline diff and shiftkit the auto with a tranny cooler as well.
That's how I'd spend it, as you said, you dont want a quarter monster..
with that setup you'd be safe to run 10psi and I'd imagine it would be pretty damn reliable providing the cars been treated right in the past and everything is done properly.

27-04-07, 17:38 GMT+10#10 id say if you do decide to turbo the motor you have now its a must that u get it checked out first and make sure u replace all the parts that are nearly ready for the bin. DONT TAKE ANY SHORTCUTS or you WILL pay for it in the end... otherwise go buy a proper rb30et for couple grand and you wont have to worry about any compression issues etc...
