hi all, i'm new in here, here's the deal, i got a vh sle, 253, big cam?,extractors-2 1/2" into 3"at the diff, mild port work, torker inlet and atop it all is a sh*ty old quadrajet, i was given a 600holly but i'm not sure what tube is what apart from the fuel line, any help would be awsome??? thanks.

Why do you say a ****ty old Quadrajet? Do you mean the carby is cactus and unserviceable or are you believing the hype that the Holley is better. Arguably a well tuned Quaddy will outperform and out flow a 600 Holley and will suit your car better. I guess if the Holley was free and the quaddy is shot it makes sense to swap but don't lose the quaddy just because some people grunt like Tim the Toolman and claim the Holley is better. TEMPA

Stick with the Quadrajet. A hundred percent better carby... Go buy a street machine mag they have a place in Vic that rebuilds carbies and from memory a Quad will cost you about $165 plus parts.

well yeah i do also believe the quady is better and i've heard they can flow up to 780cfm on a 355, but mine is well for lack of a beta word... f**ked. the holley is in near new cond and not much use on it.

yep the VL 5L quaddy was 780cfm Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

get the part number off the holley, then search it in google, u should be able to find manufacturer specs. That will tell wat goes where.

I have a quaddy on my 308 and its fantastic. Tuneable, auto choke etc, smaller front jets so it gets off and moving quick, good on fuel. Great Carb.

When my engine was carby I ditched my quaddy for a 600 holley as the quaddy was ****ed. The holley was awesome and easily tunable and I never had any probelms with it. It was the cheaper option. If you have 600 bucks or so to spend to have your quaddy rebuilt and blueprinted its a better option. theyre a brilliant carby. just comes down to what you want to spend Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I spose i put it all on myself and then had it run up on a dyno just to check the afr's. It was quite good out of the box with nice lean figures under part throttle and advanced timing for fuel economy and when the secondarys opened up ended up with between 12:1 and 13:1 for full noise. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

one of my mates just sold me a quady for $50 and its not to bad so i'll chuck a kit through it and get it tuned, plus i'm in the process of a rebuild, my diff is a vl turbo item with the 3.45 lsd so its revin at 3000 at 120k's to do 100k's, so my engine is a bit tired with only 165,000 since last rebuild...!!!

Yup, I guess that guy saw me coming lol. it goes to show what lack of experience can do, and at the time I was at a loss I can tell you Oh well, injection solved that now Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

this will go on for ever on a 253 u cant beat a 350 holley or a 465 holley 4 barrell quady's is just to big poeple always reckon quady's go harder xause of there big flat spot and then they take off and u get that jerk in the seat feelin, quady's will always run out of fuel but there are ways to over come that, dont *** around and get a 465 holley for ur 253.

mate quady over a holley... the stock quadrajet tuned well goes good on either a 253 or 308 over a tuned holley, i had a mildly modified quad on my old vb sle with a 333stroker with L34 heads and a huge cam, pushin over 340 rwhp never ran out of fuel i was impressed , i tried a 750 holley on it and didn't go as hard as a it did with the quady. look at the feedback on this thread for the quady and that says it all.... i dont care what anyone says quady ftw!!
