yeh there is. the smaller comp cover of the xr6 turbo offers more low down grunt than the bigger .7 standard cover the xr6 one is also internal gate which isnt really crash hot for big power

I use the XR6 turbo. Looking at the power the XR6's are making, the internal gate and smaller front housing are not hurting power. However the internal gate is too small and will give you massive boost spiking issues at high RPM unless you make a screamer out of it, run a restrictive exhaust or port out the gate and fit a bigger flapper. Or you can just weld it shut and run an external gate.

the xr6t one is essentially an internally gated gt35r with diffenent comp/exhaust housings. you guys are making it sound like they are completely different turbos lol.

i have internal gated the the bigger front housing all the dieeferents is the xr6 turbo is standard internal the actual gt3540 come out either and the xr6 turbo is ment 2 b "650hp" and the gt3540 is "700hp thats all it is u could still easily get 280rwkw with the xr6turbo

I used it because it was $1000 and I didn't have to buy a wastegate. They come up all the time around the place for about $1000 which is a good reason to use one, even if you just block the internal gate. (would take 5 seconds with a welder). There is a thread on XR6.com where they test a 0.7 front housing (opposed to the stock 0.5) and all it does is give more lag and does nothing for peak power. So if you go by that comparison the smaller 0.5 front is actually better in every way. The rear housing is a 1.06 with an internal gate. http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/in...1&st=0&start=0 (http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=32271&st=0&start=0)

Goes to show the turbo is pretty damn good though! Quote: Originally Posted by DIXIE ^^ sounds like alot of work.. wouldnt it just be easier to get a 35/40 ? Oh and you would love it. The smaller front housing makes for a hectic dose any muzza would be proud of. Personally I think I need a bov. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NeEgDmyQFi8 Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Sounds like an awesome turbo to me. Dunno about you guys but I would consider anything over 230-250RWKW "Big Power". I mean, potential for 400 RWKW or so for around $1000? F*CK! is this right?! At around $1000 think of the options.... Highflow? KKR430/480?

For $1000 these seem unbeatable, can someone let me know when they find one?! Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
