Hey guys, first i would like to start off with its not serdar its murat posting this thread here and secondly it might have been covered 10000times but forgive and if anyone can help i will be very happy thanks. Im after a rebuild on my vl turbo motor and looking about spending $2500 what can i get for this amount. Im after forged pistons etc If any guys on the site are mechanics and do rebuilds please pm me or if anyone knows anyone also pm on it. But my main contention is to know what i can get for that price mark and how much am i looking for labor, or should i just take out the motor and take it to someone and then put it back in myself etc. Need advice and help on it. Also sorry again if its been covered before. Thanks guys.

I just built a forged motor for my VL and the bottom end alone has $3500-$4000 in parts and machining (no labour for assembly mate did it for free) my forged rods were $950 and my Arias forged pistons were $1300, thats $2250 just for those parts, might need to up the budget mate

If u do it urself u can build a fairly tough engine for that much!Just buy a workshop manual, its tells u more thn enough!Make sure u take ur time.To get a mechanic to do it will cost u a lot more thn that and if u do it urself u know its done properly!

new lifters 300 all machine work 200-300 pistons bout 1000-1500 rods bout 1000- 1800 labour if the engine is it the car n there taking it out and putting it in bout 600 all up labour on engine bout 1000 if that so good luck but i dont think 2500 will do it thats roughly 4600 there i no my engine cost 5500 just to build but that included head work aswell

I got my mate hes a qualified mechanic so labour and takeing out the motor shouldnt be a problem just on parts like pistons etc etc like how much would it cost for the lot, what about transmission would that need a rebuilt as well, etc

2800 deliverd to your door for a full rebuilt motor using hypertechs and moly rings full machined new bearings seals ect ect sump to head or 3500 with forged pistons will come complete ready to drop in and run just add manifolds.... or if your mate is doing it he can probly beat that price if your lucky for ya Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Ok thanks mate also what about going for the bigger goods like fuel pump and bigger plenum chamber etc. They worth it?

yes its worth it if you build your engin for it. everythings worth it if you want the KW's its your car mate its up to you. if you want a slick cruse car wont cost you as much but if you wanna kill all ya mates in drags etc.... will cost you heaps, but yeah anything goes if you have the money thats where i find it all hard, its easy putting it together but f u c k do i work hard:P

With 2500$ it wont be the best of a job.. And since your not putting the engine back together yourself.. Your really cutting the knife with what parts you can buy.. Save up atleast $5000-7000 if you want to get a Professional to do the job for you and get some good rebuild parts also.

well in that case if your getting someone to do it for ya its ganna cost almost 2,500 for them to do it. do it yaself its really not that hard might take longer atleast your not paying a arm and leg to get it done

My mate hes fully qualifed been a mechanic for 14 years or so and a performance specialist so i know the car will be in good hands its just im mainly after what i exactly need and the parts. Takeing the motor out and putting it in isnt a problem aswell as putting all the parts together.

what i think theyr trying to say is that forgies and rods are going to cost u nearly $2500 thats for a good set

so im better off saveing for another year and then go and visit a performance retailer lol thanks guys for all the support and advice. ill just do the bits n pieces now and maybe the full rebuild next year thanks for it.

i think stone racings engine sounds like a good price.it just depends on how far you want to go.if you want 400kw its gonna have to wait.but if you want a fast stret car id say a basic motor like that would be the way to go..

depends what you want if your gonna go over board with big turbo and boost of course you need big dollar parts but if its just a streeter that isnt gonna be a dyno king just get a good budget motor built

yeah i started out wanting to spend 2500 same as u, ended up with arias forged pistons spool rods jpc crank acl race bearings let some freak go nuts on the head big wade cam meh the list goes on...but all i know IT ****IN HURT. and now i started it for the first time last week and it rumbled the **** outta the shed and soon as i had the exaust made then had it tuned i knew when i punched it. it wasnt gunna go bang again.

u dont necesarilly need to put forgies etc for decent power! and b4 any1 jumps and starts saying u do, its been proven b4 many times, if the car is tuned right, and u dont drive it around everyday on 25psi it will go a long way on a standard fresh VLT bottom end! take a look at the R31 thats come out of PET/Gtech, i can tell u for a fact that thing has only had a complete standard rebuild, no head studs etc nothing! basically just bolt on mods and its run some decent times. and is also driven on the street! i personally would rather forgies etc, but for those wanting to do it a bit cheaper it can be done, just dont run massive amount of boost 24/7 and make sure its tuned by a decent tuner!
