I am new here so firstly hello to everyone & i am very new to using LPG in my car too, i have just had my VS Commodore converted to LPG, they fitted an IMPCO kit in and i drove it home tonight & it drove really well on the 100 klm drive home. I heard all conflicting advise as to how often you should use petrol to look after your motor, can someone tell me the correct amount you should use " please. I got another question if thats ok, i was told before i got the conversion that you should make sure that they put in new plugs, filter, and most importantly proper gas spark plug leeds, which i did , but i am unsure about if and when do i get any servicing of the gas unit, one of the gas fitters was saying something about you have to bring it back after so many klm's for an adjustment which doesn't take long, but he was terribly hard to understand and so was the owner, can anyone please give me some advise of the above. thanks Ron Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Take it back for an "adjustment" after 4 or so tanks. As for the running on petrol, they say run 1 tank in 4 (maybe 5 depending on who says it). Personally I have never bothered going to that extreme. With the F100 I used to do 20 - 4o kms a week on petrol to stop the gaskets in the carby from ****ting themselves. With the family hack I don't have to worry about it because I can gurantee that the mrs will run out if gas before she considers filling it up....

Thanks for reply Alsynon, mine is fuel injected but i was worrying about my heads or head gaskets as i believe gas creates a lot of heat. So going by the sounds of it 1 full tank of petrol to 4 to 5 tanks of gas is playing real safe, and taking it back after 4 tanks of gas for an adjustment, is this only for the initial 4 tanks or do you have to keep running back to them all the time ? Thanks a lot mate.

Just the first...and recommended yearly after that as a part of regular servicing, basically to check for leaks and to tune it. My family hack starts on petrol then switches over so the fuel system gets a "small" workout each time you start it yours probably does the same. I wouldn't fret the running on petrol thing too much, was more of an issue in cars designed to run on leaded fuel.
