just a quick question regarding pinion seals, now i got to do mine for rwc as its leaking
now i know how to do it and all im just not shure what type of diff it is, as in resetting the pinion, i know on some diffs its a extra 1/4 turn but is it the same on these diffs? do they have a shim spacer or something else?
the diff is not being removed and just the seal is being replaced
ohh its a calais 87 open centre diff

mark the nut on the end of the pinion and do it up the same. if you go to tight you will put to much preload on the bearings and they'll be dead in no time

Yep. I learnt that at tech just last week
I'm not sure if the VLs have a collapsible spacer preload setup, but if you do those up too much, you need to insert extra shims.

Yes the VL's do have a collapsable spacer.

cool, i dont think i need the speedisleeve the car has just been sitting for awhile.
might work for my other car tho, 50 years on the orignal shaft it may be worn out

The general rule of thumb is, if you can catch your fingernail in the groove made by the seal it needs a speedisleeve.

your gonna need a good rattle gun to undo the nut cos they are super duper tight. you wont get it a home with a ratchet while ya mate tries to hold it
