Hi there
Looking to sell my 88 Series 2 Calais asap.
I bought this car late last year from an old italian lady who had owned it from new with the intent on doing an RB25 TT conversion but the person I was getting the motor off has now withdrawn the offer - so car is up for grabs.
I am pretty fussy about my cars so this was by far the best example I saw at the time - Ive owned 7 vl's now including an SV88 and would say this car was the best condition of them all.
Its got 151,700 kms on the clock - speedo was working fine when I got it but just as it ticked over 150,000 it now only works 50% of the time - probably estimate its done about 153,000 kms - I havent used it much!
When I bought car it hadnt been used for the last 8 months as the lady no longer has her license - so it was a bit reluctant to start. RAC was called and got her going with a new set of plugs and some fidling.
Car has been running fine since and I have only used it for short trips on the weekend but when idling it sometimes drops a cylinder - this goes once taking off - mechanic said it probably needs a good tune and filter change - he checked head & gasket and all is good.
The week I bought the car I spent $1500 on 17" wheels and tyres just to make the car look the part (their 245/45's I think) I also still have the original calais rims and tyres which are ok but could use a good polish - tread would be 80%.
Interior is excellent blue/grey - everything is their and it top condition right down to the original radio! No one has ever sat in the back seat so the lady told me and no one has used the rear windows - rear windows dont work too well - it appears to be the consol switch thats the problem.
Aircon was regassed in 2002 and still quite cold - engine and trans are silky smooth but I would say could do with an oil change.
Outside paint is still good - has a slight dent in front passenger door but cant notice it from a distance - quoted $300 to fix and paint. Rust is starting to appear under front windscreen but nothing no series - went to a panel beater and he quoted approx $400 to fix - but it doesnt really need it at this stage - I guess I am a bit fussy!.
Anyway Im after a quick sale - annoyed by the fact that my mate is now not selling me the engine. I got a price from a car dealer as a trade in and they offered me $3000 - but I know it would be on the lot the next week for $6000.
Looking at $4500 including mags and original wheels/tyres. Will get pics up soon but really want it gone soon so I can get on with my other project - a 2004 WK statesman 5.7 supercharged!
Ring my mobile [phone removed] for more info or to come and see the car - you wont be dissapointed.
Cheers
Jeremy
