Well can't honestly say tonight was a Saturday Night well spent.
Parked at the carpark behind the Union Club Hotel off Smith street in Fitzroy. Only gone about 45 mins and this is what I came back to.
I and another guy at the carpark think we may have seen the guy who did it. If only I'd been there 5 minutes earlier, or at least realized the window was broken before I got into the car and he had a chance to piss off.
Stolen was a brand new GPS unit I got for my 21st 3 months ago. The stand was attached to the windscreen and the unit istelf was in the back under a jacket.
Would have had to have a good look through the car to find it, but left the Head-Unit, CD's, pair of Aviators sunnies and a JB voucher that was sitting in the centre console.
Apparently a guy matching the description has been seen in the carpark before. So a warning to anyone parking there car in the area. Don't leave it in a dark carpark.
Makes me feel sick that this ****less m**********r has been in my car.
In a related note, anyone know if that guy from East-Side Installs is still selling those alarm units?

I had my alarm instsalled by Doug (Eastside) and it works a treat.
It didn't stop them from breaking my window, but it stopped them from getting the car...
Comieodor - Please PM me the price of a new window, and where you got it from

Got some good news.
A man matching the description I gave was found passed out in the back of a car he had broken into. Found with a variety of stolen goods, including a Satnav.
But heres the best part. It was a Coppas, Daughters car. There was aparently an 'altercation'. He fled, leaving behind stolen goods AND his own wallet including ID.
As of this afternoon the Police knew where he was and are on their way to get him. I actually smiled when I heard Officers Daughters car. I feel bad for her but its nice to know there is one hell of a pissed off Cop chasing him
I expect it'l take a while for me to get my stuff back, and the little stand that clips it to the windscreen was discarded. But its a great feeling knowing they got the *******.
XXXVL: Im probably gonna have to get an on site fix cos of work all next week. So I'll end up paying a bit more, I'll definately let you know tho.

Thanks man, good luck with getting your GPS back.

Does that mean he fleed with your goods again or did he like drop it and you gotta wait to get it back as its evidence or something,
Either way, the police will put him in an overnight sell where he will be raped with 15 inches of pain - revenge with anal rape... cant get much better rofl

DAMN FKS.......
As above, Sorry man... Hate seeing nice hard earned car ruined and ripped....
I found a find to make sure they dive out of my car *84 VK*
I have a small flat Piezo alarm installed under the trim in the driver side Center Column.. So right next to my right ear.... Another Larger one located Under my centre console which has a kill switch... But kinda causes to much pain to start looking and will stun the ears to point your head starts to spin..
Started as basic kit from DSE... usual car alarm with kill switch that will activate on something like the light switch from a door.....Cost me $30 AUD and bout $3 for the extra small buzzer... So fdor $33 bucks no one stays in my car... nor do i if i forget....
Cars been on hold since it had to go throught the SA Regency Pits for a tacho on the dash... Even tho asked the cops and been drug n breath tested 100's of times...... LOVE MY NITE DRIVES...... They never once said something, so cop who got me did'nt get any the nite b4 me thinks... Shoulda been cop shop check.... But now love to see them try and send it there again
The kit used can be seen at: Basic Car Alarm (http://www.dse.com.au/cgi-bin/dse.storefront/45eb62fb067810022740c0a87f9c06bb/Product/View/K4301)
Plus if u look at the other kits u can get for starting bout $20 at: Other Kits (http://www.dse.com.au/cgi-bin/dse.filereader?45eb62fb067810022740c0a87f9c06bb+EN/catalogs/CTG0000202)
for about $100 AUD you can build something on ******* will want to stay near.... With a little google or electronic basics u can then start the light flashers and air horn....
Now..... My boss's tested design when he was in the air force... THAT ROCKED..... But never ever set it of your self---Kinda illegal and never used...
Was bed of nails under drivers seat... When alarm tripped, Solinoids (electric magnets) would push up and down... pumping the bed of nails up through the seat.... U would find the ******* dead in your seat......
He has idea's no one else has ever done.... Glad to work for him..
If you guys want any such designs or circuits for alarms... Email me or contact me via my profile.... *cant remember if details in there*

05-03-07, 10:39 GMT+10#10 As I understand it. He was curled up asleep in the back seat of the girl’s car. My Satnav and some other **** he had jacked during the night was in the back with him. All I know so far is that there was an ‘altercation’ He legged it leaving all the stuff and his wallet behind in the car.
The cops have the stuff but its all evidence at this stage. I probably won’t have it back till after the court case. I think he’s known to police, and chances are there’s gonna be a drug possession charge and a long list of prior’s. The way he’s acted makes him a candidate for world’s dumbest crim. I’d say he’s looking at jail time. He can look forward to a good few months of taking it up the arse. I’ll hopefully find out more when I take the receipt and my copy of the Serial number down to ID the Satnav.
I assume they’ve picked him up by now, if not, there’s only so much Melbourne to hide in. They’ll get him.
With all the bitching about Canaries and stupid fines, its nice seeing the Police do a job well done. I’ll have to get the missus to bake em a cake
Mayhem666: Those Sirens sound like a good idea, I'll definately be looking into them very soon. The Nails under the seat is a little extreme, I'd be more worried about it going off accidentally while I was driving.
EDIT:
OK NOW I AM **** ING FUMING.
The GPS the cops have is NOT Mine. Mine was sold in the early hours on the streets of melbourne for quote "very little money" so he could by drugs.
I'm going down to the station tomorrow to sign the report and ID the guy.
If I ever see this **** in the streets I swear I will **** ing beat him to within an inch of his life.

05-03-07, 19:40 GMT+10#11 and whats even worse is they brake wat looks to be the smallest piece of glass to get into your car, neglecting the fact that it is the most expensive, what did just the glass replacement cost you? know its a bit unrelated but just curious.
P.S hope you end up getting ur gps back or they nab the guy who took it

08-03-07, 10:03 GMT+10#16 About two months ago I was at a park with some mates kicking a footy and stuff, and had my VL parked in the car park about 50m away, probably less. The problem being the park itself was surrounded by trees, so I had no clear vision of my car... After a while I come back in horror to see my rear driver side quarter panel window smashed, and my rear driver window wound down, and my glovebox wide open... ****s took my phone, wallet and all my CDs right from under me.
Luckily enough however, a few days later my wallet showed up in some bin in the nearby area with all the cards still in there (license etc), but ofcourse my few hundred dollars wasnt...
Its just annoying that I was so nearby to it and even had an alarm to prevent this kind of ****... I'm so much more cautious of my car these days though, cant trust anyone in this fkd world.

10-03-07, 12:56 GMT+10#17 Hey Guys.
I got quoted $169 from Windscreens O'Brian, supply and fitted. So stuff that, I went down to EastCom wreckers and picked one up for $30.
Now, anyone know how the hell to get it in?

10-03-07, 17:42 GMT+10#18 Cool, thanks for that Comiedor.
As for installing it, beats me...it looks like it needs special seals to get it to fit. You could ring O'Brien's to see hbow much they'd charge you to fit it....
Can anyone shed a bit of light on the subject? I need to do this install too.

10-03-07, 22:14 GMT+10#19 nah man do it your self, bit of fiddling around but if it saves you hundred bucks, i say its worth it.
My boss helped me put it in, took about 1/2 an hour, but for first timers probably allow 1 1/2 hours for frustration and snacks along the way.
-rip the door trim off (handles and winders etc...)
-wind window all the way down
-optional but window can be taken of its rail and slide it to the side to give more room when pulling out the broken window out.(undo a few screws next to the door hinge
-on the outside of the car pop off the door plastic/chrome mould.
-take out the 2 screws on the top of the broken window holding it in.
-slide the window divider to one side and pull out the broken windo seal and all.
-give the area a bit of a tidy up (vacuum?? what ever)
-with the second hand window and rubber seal thats with it,
-spray the seal all over with some lubricant ie. WD40. helps with seal and to slide it into place.
-once its in pretty much put every thing back on in reverse order that you pulled it of in.
note: seal doesnt need anything else to seal it. mines in with good second hand seal, no noises and no troubles.
Also to get winder off for those who dont know yet- strip of cloth between winder and black spacer and jiggle the clip off. If too hard use 2 small picks and try not to lose it, put in a safe spot.
good luck to those about to attempt this and hope those who caused the damage be rewarded with some snapp kicks to the head

10-03-07, 22:28 GMT+10#20 Hey Guys. Got the window in, and didn't need to WD40 or take the other window out. Just undid the screws at the top and did a little jiggling.
Thanks for all your help and support, I found out the guy took a swing at the Police Officers Daughter. Im sure they gave him his just dessert..... ****er.
Its nice having the car back in one piece. Shame I have to read a Melways again (more appropriately my girlfriend has to read it).
So final result was: 30 bucks for a second hand window (no scratches) and about half an hour (and patients) was what it cost me.
