The 2 most recent batches were made from 4140 which isn't quite hard enough to do the job and as such have been recalled. While only 3% have suffered failures the company is concerned. Exact batches and dates can not be backlogged to identify the problem retainers but the ones that have failed have done so fairly quickly, so if they have survived a few thousand KMs they should be okay.
Please return retainers for nitride hardening to alleviate the problem and ensure hassel free operation.

vltnitron (corran) will be keen on seeing this, as one of his tighe cam billet retainers dropped and cost him a piston and rod. are Tighe Cams taking responsability and providing compensation for damage caused by their inadequate products? all well and good making a recall, but useless to those that have already seen them drop and damage other engine parts.
Nothing to do with me or the site man... just posting what they wanted.. thought i'd do a community service and let everyone know..
Give them a call and ask i suppose....

There have only been two failures. One person is a very serious racer with an 8500rpm rev ceiling. He is very understanding and we are currently working on a combination for his car that will survive those conditions. The other is Corran and I doubt the company will pay for his piston when he is not even willing to send the damaged part back for inspection/discusison.
P.S.- This is not open for discussion thanks Monster.
***Edit***- Beat me to it Corran. Good luck with your quest. You're going to need it after slandering incorrect information all over the net. Looking forward to seeing your components.
