yes it is a cannon your eyes appear to work fine.... the price is negotiableto a point yeah... its very hard to say what the turbo is worth because i bought it stuffed and put new shaft and full overhaul kit new bearing housing all ther thrust gear and bearings seals etc and the like so its quite hard to say what its dollar value is unfortunatly at a guess id say replacement value would be up around the $2000 or more ??given the shaft alone was about $700 retail but ah well shes mint now!!! thanks for the comments and keeping the thread pretty well on track guys

its a hks turbo ...i dont see why this is such a talking point... why cant people just believe what i say seeing as i got the turbo from japan and i got it rebuilt i bought the new parts i own the car!!!... i have no idea what its worth because as i said its not one of the newer ball bearing ones its an older one which is basically a ta51/t04 hybrid.... i was talking used in good condition pricing too btw not new.. thanks anyway

to be 100% honest... if you really dont believe me... take the time to do a search on the internet on all the older series plain bearing ( i know the newer ines have hks t51r in big writing on the cover this is not one of them nor am i claiming it to be) hks t51's and ta45s turbos to date i have never ever seen one with hks on the compressor cover as they all run a very similar compressor cover to whats on my turbo with garrett on it... i imported 2 of these turbos at the same time a t51 and a ta45s basically the same turbo but in a smaller trim both hks and both marked hks but with garrett compressor covers can we please make that the last on the turbos origin if u wanna discuss it more ill be happy to discuss it in a thread in the turbo section or something... just want to try and keep this thread clean and easy to read, thanks

seen were he got the turbo from and the money he spent to rebuild it. the only garrett about it is on the cover. was not a cheappy. it's a true HKS all the way. he spent alot of time and money on this thing. i don't really want him to sell it. should get some more use out of it first. he doesn't let idiots work on his cars, so it is built well.

Most of the QLD members off the forum will vouch for this car, i believe it's worth every cent John's asking, you try making a car that looks as mickey mouse and tough as that, with quality components and the performance to match!

Sounds like a fair price he's asking to me...proofs really in the timeslip. Maybe 304-cid you should highlight a few features of the car like the KEAS transbraked 3speed for example, put that sh1t in BOLD. Have no idea why some of you are picking this car apart, its run a number, makes the power? I know people that have paid more or similar for less a car....get over it.

it uses a stock as per fectory series 2 n/a bottom end with new rings and a 2 mm cometic gasket to lower the compression..in reality i dont think this is a half assed or dodgy way of doing it.. i planned it this way to get a bit more static compression to help reduce lag and improve off boost torque and it has worked well.... to be honest i wanted to see if i could run a 10 in a full weight street calais with stereo etc on what is basically a stock rb30 engine itself (not talking bolt ons like turbo etc).... its just a challenge i set myself.... the car runs quite a concervative tune so id think that if you treat it right and maintain it right like you should with anything it would last a fair while but if it pops just throw another quickly freshened up bottom end in and if it lasts u like 6 months to a year its a good $200 or there abouts spent (im in no way saying i think it will last only 6 months).. im not going to be crying if the bottom end breaks like i would if it had a 4k bottom end....(i previously owned a t88 silvia with a 2.2 stroker sr20 $22k long engine which i was always sh!tting myself what will i do if it breaks i cannot afford to fix it i did not want this to be like that i just wanted to have fun) i freely admit a fully forged engine would handle more power and for longer but in the end just because its forged does not mean it cant break, it all comes down to tuning.... a bad tune or a boost spike or lean out event will break any engine no matter what it is!!! thanks for the kind comments guys and yeah maybe i should make a point of highlighting the big dollar things on this car... this whole car was built right and i seriously do NOT see it having a stock n/a bottom end as a big letdown because (1) i planned to build it this way from the start and (2) it has well and truly proven itself... cheers John

Hey moron, don't like the price DON"T COMMENT YOU TOOL. SO what if you dont think ANY VL is worth more than 4K! The right ENTHUSIAST will pay the money for something like this. You try and build something for the same price! Ask Lars how much he has spent on his VL for god's sake. Even if you don't think it is worth that, does it really matter? No neither does my opinion. The guy has built an awesome car THAT HAS RAN THE NUMBERS. He has honestly written up everything that is in the car. He could easily have lied about alot of things, he has chosen not to, so please, shut the hell up. thats fine nugget i took yours as a genuine question that wasnt aimed at stirring me up.... appretiate it when people can take the time to word things right and ill give them the best answer i can... unlike some others on here at the moment... yeah the car would cost alot more to build from scratch as previously mentioned but im not going to try and justify its value to someone who obviously has no idea what $1000 can buy you in top end bolt on performance parts it doesnt get you very far these days when building a car like this from basically scratch... thanks to everyone who is sticking up foe me hahaha... it would be great for a mod to come in and start handing out warnings LOL maybe they will think twice before slagging off needlessly in peoples threads next time...these guys must lead an extremely boring life when they have enough spare time to try and ruin peoples threads for kicks meh im not worried.. as i said its an EOI im extremely happy to keep the car and utilise it more and try and get some of my moneys worth !!! Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Top car mate, dont worry about all the haters. If people are so worried about an NA bottom end, negotiate a little, then go build a forged bottom end and you will have an awesome setup. Itll cost a hell of alot more $$$ to get another standard vlt to the same standards Good luck with the sale
