Hey Guys, have been reading a lot of stuff on this site about what you guys do when you build your rides, and it seems that the majority of you build with the aim of a fast quarter mile time, ie straight line speed. What I want to know is how many VL's have ever made it to a Drift circuit; do you know of any or have possibly built one with this in mind.
The national drift comp is on in Perth this weekend and I had a brief opportunity to get behind the wheel of a purpose-built Silvia this week, but the feeling I got from the drivers seat was very similar to a nicely tuned VLT.
So what do you think; will the VL's ever make an impact on Drifting???

24-02-07, 08:27 GMT+10#10 You can pretty well drift anything...
Pretty well it all comes down to suspension, coil overs, sway bars etc. Stripping the whole car out to lose as much weight as possible, and finally to get it driving like the rest of the drift cars an powerful SR20 conversion would be perfect to sit back as far as possible in the bay to reduce weight and to improve the distribution...
there is a vn that rips up in the QLD drift comps, and he is by far my favourite drifter going. And he does it so easy! This is a pic I took of him!
So if you can get a VN boat to drive like that, anything is possible...

24-02-07, 08:56 GMT+10#12 Hasn't it got like 800HP? anything with that much and a little under body work will drift.
50MAN is very good at it! He can pull 160 4th gear fish tails down the main QLD straight, Then do a 360 and keep going.. All at 160.. Seen him pull 3 in a row at last, last years power cruise! it was insane, no jap boy come close to the crowd entertainment

24-02-07, 08:58 GMT+10#13 Yeah, the V8's are starting to muscle in on the tuner cars, and really make a name for themselves, but I was just wondering why there aren't more VL's out there. Comparatively you can power them up, they're a similar size, and I find they handle relatively well. There are also lots of drifters out there with cars of a similar age.

24-02-07, 09:09 GMT+10#14 how do you get camber with a live axle?
leave drifting to the people who do it best i say, and thats the japs.
getting smoke from the rear wheels with a powerslide is not drifting.
i just don't see any entertainment is watching aussies try and drift.

24-02-07, 13:04 GMT+10#17 VL's are from factory magnetised to a special steel compound used in power poles and street lights.. once traction is lost, the cars like to gravitate towards these objects....
