Well I finally got around to getting a photobucket account so heres some photos of EVILPET I'll share with the forum. MODEL: HDT VL AERO as featured in Commodore Crazy 25 and Holden Performance 1 HDT BUILD #: 1988 YEAR: 1988 HDT Build / Chasis is a BT1 COLOUR: Tuxedo Black WHEELS: 17 inch Simmons SUSPENSION: HDT Bilsteins etc INTERIOR: VL Group A Klm's: 88,000 Yep - I updated the rear wing. I just couldn't find a replacement light kit for the original wing and not too happy with the current HDT wings I've seen (quite rough). As for the exhaust - still HDT except for the tailpipe. Mick from Briffa Engineering is updating this with a mandrel bent 3 inch during the year and the tailpiece should sit exactly like its supposed to be. I'm really disappointed with the quality of the current decals after ordering a bunch of them before Christmas, so have decided to put them aside and make up ones that were faithful to the originals. Now 2007 will see EVILPET stripped / resprayed and restored as I'm not happy with the current finish. Also I've decided to restore the interior to AERO specs. So at some point I will have ORIGINAL Group A front scheel and rear seats available for sale. Anyone whose seen it in person knows these look absolutely mint in condition. Engine bay is being 'dressed up' but nothing over the top and all parts easily restored to original if required. Mick likes to go for trophies when he's dressing up engine bays and I'm hoping this will be ready for Motorvation 2008. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Alot of work to take the car back to a factory look, and any updates of technology being made to look like it belongs there. Door trims have been redesigned to replace the ugly ones put on there by that notorious car stereo mob who have branches in Morley and Cannington. The speakers will look like they came out of the factory with them in the door. ALSO, Nexus boost gauge is being moulded into the A-Pillar to look like it came out factory as well. Car will be displayed at Motorvation 23. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I'll put more on when I'm happy with the results. I found the rare HDT wheel in the US and paid big time for the leather gear knob from a bloke in Brisbane (more than how much my first car ever cost). (The original spotlights (CiBie 95i's) were found in Tokyo) I bought the last roll of Group A Velour a while back from HDT and my upholsterer says I have enough to re-upholster the whole car after cutting out the door inserts. Here's the back doors. Front doors will be completed around November after my audio guys mould the Dynaudios into the door. I sat down with the upholsterer to look at the original HDT door designs and then designed the fronts. Although the speakers were released 18 years later, they will look stock and retro in the doors. Here's the backs. New cards made up for all door trims. Engine...well, not finished yet but a lot of the work is outlined in Commodore Crazy 25 and Holden Performance 1. Currently designing the look of the underbonnet with regards to presentation. I'm planning a VN Group A slotted brake upgrade planned for Motorvation as well as a few other little tricks. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Actually the doorpods are being scrapped - I HATE THEM. Absolutely CRAP CRAP CRAP workmanship by (Blah-Blah) Car Stereo who have branches in Morley and Cannington. My mates kids could have done a better job. The front doors are being completely re-designed so that the speakers are MOULDED into the doors and trimmed over so it looks like it's factory. The look is RETRO. It will be completed in November when I get my Dynaudios re-furbished and returned. The upholsterer will then complete them and front and rears will be identical. Watch this space for the rest of the mods. You will swear that Holden brought this car out 22 years ago with all the 21st Century gadgets when I've finished with it.

Some Updated Pics. I REALLY hate car stereo mobs. This one stuffed me around YET AGAIN. Although we agreed one piece in September before I left Australia, The idiot did me pods again!! So it looks like the Group A velour has been wasted and I'll have to go back to the drawing board and have the front doors done again and use more of my precious roll. The stereo mob was supposed to make me a custom A-Pillar pod and match it to the dash like the ipod holder for my NEXUS Boost gauge. I ended up doing a quickie install into the dash before Motorvation 23. This needs to be redone sometime this year. Engine bay is WiP. Given that some assh*le at Motorvation contaminated the fuel, the engine is currently being stripped (stripped all the fuel lines and replaced / cleaned everything before I left Australia). So I'm getting more red hoses made up to replace the black ones (intercooler hoses). Probably get some custom 10mm lead spacers made up too as I want it to look like a "factory" job.. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

After recent events, namely being vandalised at Motorvation 23, everything has been stripped and fixed or replaced from the fuel system to the turbo and intercooler. My brief to the mechanic was make it "perfect" again. According to his reports this is done and she now goes like a rocket, even better than before. Here's her time card from Oran Park prior to the mods I've done (quite a while ago) so we estimate she'll be good for mid to high 9s now. Now I have to wait 7 months before I can drive her again. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

just read your write-up. I must say your HDT Aero is amazing man, it's rare to see someone modify a VL with a lot of detail and for it to turn out beautiful, not tacky or over-done. kudos to you! p.s. sorry to hear about the low life that did that @ Motorvation 23 :<

EVILPET is "dead". I haven't seen my car for 18 months now. I was sent some pictures of her current state and it brought tears to my eyes. She wasn't properly stored away properly after I had left the country.she looks like a 50 year old "barn find' right now. The paint has been severely damaged and some mechanicals requiring attention. Be sure that I've already engaged a number of trusted people to start working on her on Phase One before I get back in a few weeks. Will probably see a few of you Perth-ites on the car cruise. Then Phase Two will be during the gap between October after I leave Perth again through to December. Front door trims and pods will be put up for sale amongst other bits. She's going to look great for Motorvation. Stay Tuned!

I'm back in Perth in 3 weeks. Doing a lot of purchases and prep with various people who are working on the car before I get back and will be again after I leave Perth until Christmas. I am in touch with someone who used to be in the design department of Holden who I met whilst working there who is helping me update the interior design as "Holden would have done it" if they had all the mod cons of today but using the designs of the 80s. I'll post updates after October......Stay Tuned!
