ok i dunno if this is the sort of thing you want, but i whipped this up for a start! any one feel free to add or fix up any mistake i made(im not perfect , as i think this wiki will help alot of ppl out so we should get it up! any ways here it is... TROUBLE SHOOTING SYMPTOMS AND LIKELY CAUSES! problem 1, Engine starts and idles fine but has flat spot, or instantly dies when eccelerator is pressed, most likely causes, afm, ecu, dirty spark plugs, faulty spark plug leads, dirty connections in electrical system. problem 2 engine cranks over but does not fire up has no spark! most likely cause, Cas, faulty dizzy, or faulty ecu or coil! problem 3 car does not start can not hear fuel pump priming, most likely causes, blown 15 amp fuel pump fuse, faulty fuel pump, problem 4 car starts and drives fine but is blowing blue smoke, most likely cause, worn piston rings, same symptons apply for turbo and n.a car problem 5 car starts and drives fine but is blowing white smoke most likley causes, cracked piston, faulty turbo seal, blown head gasket! problem 6 car start and stalls when driving, most likely causes faulty afm, faulty fuel pump, loose wiring in the wiring harness problem 7 car has ignition (reds) but does not kick over most likely causes faulty starter motor, faulty relay, dead battery, if auto -neutral position switch can be a cause, problem 8 car blows lots of black smoke when driving or boosting, most likely causes car is running very rich get it on a dyno to check a.r ratio, also faulty injectors can also be a cause! problem 9 car breaks down under load, most likely causes, faulty coil, faulty cas, faulty fuel pump, incorrect timing problem 10 car pings when driving under load most likely causes poor fuel, faulty fuel pressure,incorrect timing, problem 11 Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Perhaps a setup similar to stone racings post but on the causes eg. afm you click on afm and it goes to a flowchart to test it or a window's help type setup eg. put multimeter on the end terminal's. does it read 386 ohm's ? yes no set to 386 ohm's, did this fix the problem ? yes no

I think series one calais had the hood light... or was that series 2? Troubleshoot problem Q: Ingition turns on but will not crank over A: Is the car in park or nuetral? Its happened to me a few times :P

Both series come with that hood light... It really depends some had it some didnt have it i guess it was just luck of the draw maybe it was an option to have one fitted...

problem 8 - also faulty fuel pressure regulator causes this - happened to my calais turbo. (black smoke, running really crap when cold, pinging and cutting out)
