i have a few questions regarding gas compliancing and the 2k grant
I just brought a unregisterd 1971 hq ute with gas without a gas compliance plate, i have got the tank retested now i need a compliance plate to pass rwc, can i just take it to a gas engineer get the setup checked and compliance plate then go to centerlink and claim 2k rebate ?
id imagine if there hasnt been a gas system complianced against that vin number you should be able to get the grant. how much did it cost to get retested?
no. you need to produce evidence that the car has had a system installed. unless your local gas fitter can do that for you. with the compliance plate you need to take it to your local gas fitter and get it checked. they also have to have a AAFRB licence for it to be legit.

I checked with a gas fitter today you can get the grant if you remove your gas system from your car and take it to a fitter and ask them to re-install it for you. Should only cost $300-$600.
You do need to provide a receipt that says installation on it from a licensed gas installer with an abn number.
Double check with them before you start that they will sign the rebate form.

Ive just been screwed by a gas fitter that said he would let me install my own kit then get it checked by him. he refused to sign the rebate form after i did all the hard work now i have to remove the gas kit and pay another installer to re-install it so i can claim the rebate back.
It would be interested to hear how you go.
I think anyone with a registered vehicle on gas that hasn't got a gas mod plate fitted to it could do the same.
Why mess around with the second hand unit.
Rip it out, sell it for $300.
Book the car in and get a new system for $2600. So effectivly you outlay $300 with your rebate and you have a brand new system.
The main advantage of this is you get everything new like hoses, converter etc with a 2 year warranty.
Cant go wrong Cheers
You'd be able to get it easy. Call up lakeside automotive. They'll check the system, might have to reinstall some lines or something, wouldn't be much. Even if it costs you $500 to get done, that's $1500 in your pocket.
this is prob off topic, is it illegal or something to not display that lil lpg logo on ur number plate caz ive seen couple ppl not having them while the car has a gas setup
Yeah it is illegal.
Its also possibly fatal.
Emergancy response need to know what is in the boot of cars in a major accident.
It can make a BIG difference in the way the respond to a crash site. If they don't know its on gas and theres a fire, well you know what I am saying though.
Its not that hard to get the plates and the stickers. Every fitter I know has spares. And most servo's sell them too.
Remember they should be stuck to those steel plates that are riveted to the number plate first.
