when you get into the nitty gritty they are pretty basic computers compared to some other brands, but the price reflects that. they are relatively easy to wire up and to tune. the people who repeatedly bag them are generally workshop muels and have no idea or personal experience.

I had a lt-10s, excellent ecu's just need someone who knows how to tune them such as rajab etc.

yeah they seem to suit rotarys, the rotor boys love em and i wonder why rotors always seem to blow up the way i see it,you get what you pay or,the best ecu value for money has to be autronic and if you got the moolah go motec, case closed. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

It's as simple as a bunch of naive morons reading petty talk on alot of different car sites with people comparing prices and sharing wrong, ridiculous information, and then they think they're knowledgeable. There is nothing wrong with microtech. It's like comparing a brand new Holden Commodore with a brand new BMW 320i. There both nice cars, but one is more expensive, of different calibre, and you're obviously going to get a bit more for the money you pay with the better of the two.

bah some of the most powerfull cars around run microtec, stick with what works for you

i know **** all about **** all (you can quote that) But what i beleave is as what udlose said.. stick to what works. no point getting a motec is the closest trustworthy tuner is 500kms away. go to your local tuner that you trust and ask him/her what they recoment, no point getting the best of the best with a crap tune.

I've got a Wolf3D and some guys told me not to get one but Peter at Rank Rotary tunes it and the car runs awesome I'd agree with UD LOSE stick with what works for you

Ain't that the truth. Most of the people who "recommend" others not to use them, don't even own a VL Turbo, yet alone have one that runs an aftermarket ecu. So many people just read threads and then regurgitate what someone else says to make themselves appear intelligent. What they don't know is the person giving them the original advice is a 15 year old kid who spends his life reading forums. Don't listen to someone who hasn't tried one, that goes for everything on this site.

i have a lt8s in my vl and it runs fine and is easy to get someone to tune it when needed i have a mate with a haltech and he has had so many problems with it it all comes down to personal preference and budget but everyone tells u something different ive had no hassle with microtech and would use them again on my next car if i needed a new ecu

top ecu's as said workshop hangers jump on the bandwagon and say they r no good...

agreed ^^^^^^^^^ Every vl ive had for a while now has used a microtech ecu and never ever had any problems and i dont have any trouble making reasonably big power aswell. I can quite easily find about 3-4 tuners within a 20-30km radius of my place and really the results speak for themselves trouble free motoring. My ten bucks worth!!

it simply comes down to how refined they are for tuning. the older microtecs were and are very basic , doesnt mean they dont work. newer microtecs have finally caught up to the likes of autronic and motec , as have the newer haltecs.

dont the more expensive ecu's such as motec's have finer rpm tuning points, like say microtechs tune avery say 500rpm, where as motec might tune every 100rpm etc. i have heard microtech's arent any good, but no-one could really tell me why, and as said before, so many high powered cars are running them. thats why i went with microtech. i cant coment on it yet but as it is not installed

Microtech is so popular in drag racing because for those 8-10sec the pedal is mashed to the floor, that's it. There is no need to have the extra tuning points like what haltech, motec etc has. If you look at circuit cars, majority of them do not use microtech. The tuning points on say the haltech and motec are user definable/programmable,as in it is your choice where you want them. Also, these computers have idle control and not to mention the numerous other features that microtech does not have. For a drag car, microtech is good and anything but a drag car, use the other computers.
