hey guys, just researching this for a mate, does anyone know if you can bolt a sr20 into a N13 pulsar without changing the gearbox. The old engine has died and we want a turbo sr20 in it. The old engine is a 18LE and has a manual gearbox. i dont want to go to the trouble of custom cv shafts etc. And im hoping that the bell housing bolt patterns are the same????
thanks in advance.........

You wouldn't want a standard gearbox behind a turbo SR20 anyway. It will go bang

05-01-07, 22:14 GMT+10#11 Forget the SR20, go for the CA18, can use the standard gearbox with it. From memory you need to make up a new front engine mount.
But make sure the gearbox is in good condition, or your going to be taking it out fairly quickly...lol

11-01-07, 11:55 GMT+10#13 i've put a CA18 into an N13 with the 18LE manual gearbox. modified one of the engine mounts, the gearbox bolted up without issues. they do NOT bolt up to an SR20.
with 8psi, an exhaust and cooler, it was stupid. no traction anywhere in the first two gears, just torque steer and front end tramp. with even a mildly modded SR it would be useless. go the CA18 if you want to have a nice fun car, go the SR if you have too much money and want something that's impossible to drive.

11-01-07, 17:00 GMT+10#14 I had mine on 14psi.
No wonder I went thru 4 clutches and 2 gearbox rebuilds..lol

11-01-07, 17:26 GMT+10#15 they u12 and u13 bluebird engines will fit, they are the ca18dets, they go in with little hassle, using the existing 18LE g/box, however ull still need a decent clutch
- ca18 is cheaper
- ca18 is lighter
- ca18 'bolts' in
- ca18 uses your factory box
- ca18 uses your factory cv's
- ca18 cam drives onto the valves
As for the sr20de or det, they are NOT a straight fit, new engine mounts will need to be made, and the gbox will need to be from the n14/n15 sss, big headache. anything can be done, but depends how deep your wallet is
find a ca and throw it in, it will be a nice little pocket rocket...
oh and as for traction, its not that bad when u get some decent rubber on the front hehe...

30-11-12, 00:27 GMT+10#16 Hey mate, I'm doing a conversion on my n13 pulsar q.
I'm putting a sr20de in it. Gearbox will fit, but u will need the cv joints for the sr20, they will also fit. You will have to modify the gear shift rods (make them shorter) you will also have to modify the right engine mount and left gearbox mount, if you use the crossmember off the n13 it will fit, including front and rear mounts. Haven't finished to conversion yet. I need help with the electricals.
