For a good wash, use Gold Class Wash with really clean sponges. Make sure you use a separate sponge for the wheels and tyres and then use a good, clean chamois to dry it off. I make sure the car is absolutely clean and dry before I start polishing. I haven't used paintcleaner yet, but I use Autoglym Super resin polish over the whole car. I spend hours doing this and then then I wipe it all off with a dust free terry towel. I then use Meguiars Colourboost to remove anymore light swirls and markings which have appeared on the pain and the final step is using Meguiars Tech Wax. I get really good results using this way even without the paintcleaner.

You dont really need to stay to the one brand... Not all polishes are the same... The tiny scratches you speak of are the scratches? Can you feel it with your nail? Throw up a picture so we can take a look at it and give you more advice... Its always best to polish your car after you have washed it as alot of washes do remove polish from the cars... You need to find a wash that wont do this hard to find unless you want to spend big $$$ A paint cleaner Does the following... road grime, surface contamination, light oxidation, swirls and light scratches to restore damaged and dull finishes. Prepares all paint finishes for polishing and waxing. The ScratchX helps remove fine scratches and swirls from automotive paint by hand, ScratchX removes light surface contaminants, oxidation and blemishes while it enhances paint color and clarity. poorboys is a good brand to use but its not an off the shelf product... I use the autoglym super resin polish its a good polish for off the shelf... All you need is a couple of applactor pads microfbire cloth's or terry towels a nice polish and a nice wax remember not all waxes are the same either... The ones in which have been posted only last around 30 days... Its a natural wax where a wax like Autoglym extra gloss protecion should last around 6 months... You also got to remember you do need to add it now and then as everytime you do wash you car you are washing bits of wax and polish off... You can use a quick detaler to help protect the car and to keep the wax and polish on so your not always out polishing and waxing all the time...

You just have to maintain everything so your car looks in good nick... If you goto a car wash place to use the high pressure washer dont use the brush at all you can get the foam out of it etc but take a sponge and use that to cover the car with the foam... If they say you can't do it say you going to pay for a new paint job... It has worked a number of times for me just get looks from people not may fault i dont want a stuffed paint job...

Going to head down autobarn or something tommorrow. So the steps i should take are: Firstly work in a shady place. Wash the car with Meguiars Gold class Shampoo Dry the car with a Shamois Use ScratchX on the places i need Finally go over the whole car with AutoGlym super resin polish or instead of the polish a wax??

But obviously I wouldnt throw it on dirt, hose it down and quickly dry it first. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

youre right zanny about the poorboys not being an off the shelf product but i bought it from www.waxit.com.au (http://www.waxit.com.au) and it is cheaper then what you would pay in store for it plus you can order it in australia too.

Sounds good to me. You could swap ScratchX and Autoglym around if you wanted which is what I do mostly, but it's up to you. A wax goes over the polish. Wax is not polish, it protects and locks in the clean, polished paint. Carnauba wax is a natural wax and will only last a week or two before it wears off. Synthetic waxes like Meguiars Tech Wax will last a lot longer. I don't know what the other pros and cons are though. Personally I would prefer the natural wax as I really don't want to be removing the synthetic wax everytime I polish... an even longer process of polishing your car.

Yeah thats the only place i have seen it for sale in australia... All the products listed on that site are off the shelf products... They are the best of the best to use on your car which alot of top car detailers use... I have used some of the products listed on that site before and always got good results the finishes is something you cannot say you have to see it... Carnauba wax last longer then a week or two... It last for about 30 days before you have to reapply it... A Synthetic which alot of companys have theses days are good and do last for upto 6 months... You got to remember if you want the wax to stay on your car get a good car wash and always apply it every couple of months... It protects your car from bird droppings acid rain etc... You still got to wash off the bird droppings as soon as you see it on your paintwork... The wax locks in the polish as well so you dont need to polish so much... If you wish to remove it and start over again thats when you use the paint cleaner it removes the wax and polish from your car like i have said in my post before... It depends how fussy you are with your car... You should always work in the shade and your car should be nice and cool rinse the car first to remove loose dirt etc Give it a wash with the car shampoo Dry off Go over car and check for marks scratches etc Use what ever you like to remove marks scratches like that scratch X Wash wheels and tyres before you wash the body again Wash car again Dry off again and make sure you do the door jams bonnet and boot Go over dash, console to remove loose dirt Go over car with a nice polish remember not all polishes are the same... and to finish off select a Wax remember not all waxes are the same... That is very basic on what you can do... One last thing never let your car dry at all it will leave water marks and what not and are not so easy to get off... Also never use the same chamois to do your door jams etc with as they do get dirty and you dont want a soiled chamois over the top of your paintwork...
