After hearing stories of butchery and tears of people trying to remove the calais headrest support plastics in those brackets behind the rear seat i thought id tell you guys how to remove the series 1 and 2 plastic supports fast and with out braking them. Series 1 The top of these black plastic bits should have a groove that passes through the headrest mounting hole. When locked in this line is positioned east-west accross the car. Rotate the plastic clip until this line is north-south and then lift them up and out. Series 2 Get a 1/2inch or a 13mm socket and push it up over the bottom of the plastic pin supports it will collapse the wedge part of it and then it will pop out. Hope this helps you guys out. Yeah, the spacing between S1 and S2 headrests are different - but not all the time! I've got 2 pairs of S2 headrests, and they're spaced differently! Maybe it's got to do with the year 87/88? not sure...

This occured in October 87 so if your car is later than that it will have the narrow headrests Actually the easier way to remove the headrests from a series 2 is to push out the little steel clip that sits in the opening around the pin with a flat head screw driver. Then you just lift out the headrest and the plastic stays, then you flick the screw driver under the plastic and rotate it which should allow the material to rise above the plastic. Then remove the rear seat Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

wow im soo confussed. i have SII and have the first set of pins, does that mean its the narrow model or not??

No you have the wide headrests with earlier style front seats. Still series 2 but it was the update that has the narrow. So all you have to do is twist yours out!

ok this might seem weird but i have a set of series one brackets and pins here, the pins are not locked into the brackets but i cant get them to lock in.... i bought the seperately and i cant see how to rotate the pin and get it to lock in? Any help appreciated, Also i have a set of series 2 headrest pins for sale, blue.

They just push down and twist in. There is a line on top. Put them in facing in line with the car front to back and just twist them so the line then faces across the car. Thats it. BTW you cant put s1 pins in s2 update brackets or vica versa, they are completely different in diameter!

YEP BOOST mine look the same as the pic of series1, both pins and brackets. However when i place the pin in the bracket, with the two tabs in the 2 grooves it is physically impossible to turn them. Do you get what i mean at all??? or do i have some mismatch here.

Peter Hturbo. There is a simply way with a 20 cent coin. Place on top of black pins(in the grove provided) and turn untill thay rise, then pull out. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

hehe mad stuff, those were my headrest brackets and pins! Another tip for removing the series 2 pins from the brackets is to use a zip tie to collapse the lower section and then slide it upwards as far as you can, cut the zip tie then pull it all the way out. And another tip... series 2 up until roughly August/September 88 still had the series 1, s**tty black headrest pins and brackets.
