you would have to spend a **** load on a rb20 to even try for 300kw, around 200kw-250kw is good power for a rb20 and you would need to rebuild it with forged internals if you want over 200kw. your best option is a rb25, rb26 or rb30 if you want 300kw

My advice would be to have a search on the site as to what people say about rb20's and i think it will make you decide against it you have to thrash the **** out of them to be fun as they only make power at high revs they are gutless down low With that money go a 26/30 combo for big power if the 20k only includes the motor/gearbox not turbos ecu cooler fuelsystem you will get away with it for under 20k easily but you will be struggling to get it all done for 20k 25/30, straight 25 and a straight 30 and you should get for about 20k forged turbos exhaust fuel system ecu etc included and will see 300rwkw out of it The best advice would be to do something sensible with the money like put on a house deposit but there is no fun in that is there Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I have done this conversion and if you only want 160rwkw and dont mind revving the **** out of a engine i say its good power for not alot of money. But other than that i do not recommend it and I have since sold that car and bought a VLT with a rb30et in it. To me their is no comparison, the 30 ****s on the 20. Mate you will regret it i think if you go the RB20 path.

mate pm em if u like, i went the rb20 and later on thorough research found that getting to 200kw was cheap getting to 300kw was just to expensive if u have that much to spend get an rb26 and just bith the bullet, u can have that in your car running pulling huge number for around 10g and u can keep up grading in the future getting mroe and more power as u want it! sell the rb 20 and go get a 25 26 or 30

Why would anyone bother spending 20k on an RB20... As people above have said. Buy a half cut and get a full RB26DETT. Will come with almost everything you need for the conversion. And you'll be packing some serious power. Then again spend 20k on a stock standard vlt and you'd be running 10's in no time. Im sure if you dropped into a good performance workshop with a knowledge in the nissan RB motors, with 20k and said build me a 10 second car they'd be sure to do it no worries. And that would be using and retaining the original motor. Rebuild the motor with forgies etc - $4000 Turbo package from our sponsor "6BOOST" - 6boost "street/strip warrior" setup, Garrett GT35/40 700hp turbo, 1.06 rear, tial 44mm wastegate, 36mm pipe diameter, 400-500rwhp on 20-28psi, full boost at 3700-4200rpm, $3300 Custom plenum - $1000 ish Fuel setup - $2000 Keas auto - $3000 ECU - $2000 Thats 15 grand so far... Plus other bits and pieces you'll have a 10 second car no dramas.

do a search on here it's a conversion that has been done a number of times you could do the bulkl of the conversion your self u use the RB30 engine mounts and the thing bolts in no trouble, is your car auto or manual other good thing about going the rb26 is u can retain the standard loom (just sort out ignition etc) and use a power fc plug in ecu! with are cheap as chips! if u are auto, then get an Kea's auto, if yoru going manual or have manual just sorce and Rb25 box

Yes, pretty much everything on Rb20 and Rb26 are interchangable.

Surely this guy means $2000 not $20000. $20k is insane money to spend on an RB20 (I also think it's also insane money to spend on modding a VL too...) For $20k you would probably have the best RB20 in Aus. I'd imagine you could have a Tomei 2.4 stroker and some change. Which I'm guessing would be somewhere within 400-600hp. Which is plenty for a street car. If I had this much moolah I'd be thinking of doing other things. Turboed LS1 maybe?
