if i decifered that right, your running a TWO channel amp yes? running FOUR speakers?? is that correct? So meaning your running your little amp at a 2ohm stereo mode? Instead of its usual 4ohm. If thats how it is, that is why your amp is overheating and cutting out. Place it in a better place for cooling, or if that doesn't help the cutting out. I'd suggest just running 2 speakers off it like it was designed to do. Run the 6x9's off the amp and run the 6's off the headunit. Overheating should stop then because it will only be running 4ohm...

You can't use splitters on a 2 channel amp, well you can, but it would make no sense to. Re-thinking what i said earlier, do what was said above, run the front 6's off the amp, and run the 6x9's off the headunit! Best soundstage then. By taking one set of speakers off the amp (only running 2, not 4) is the only way your going to reduce the load on the amp and make it run cooler. That will stop the amp overheating.

08-11-06, 12:58 GMT+10#17 yea i guesss sounds like a good idea and i already get good sound except my front right speaker seems to hmm well not rattle but vibrate when it hits a low note and i seem to be the only on that can hear it? so i was thinking of stuffing some foam behind it but then what would happen if something went wrong and it sparked? so maybe this isnt a good idea wot else could i do to stop that vibration in the door???? and the bolts that hold the door pod on are just long enough so im not taking it off cuz its a prick to get it back on! i have taken the speaker out since then and tightened all the 4 bolts that i have put there to hold the pod on and the noise is still there? so i dunno i figure something out and DJTwitch im still working on freight costs for those rims.

The vibrating may not be in the actual door, it may be the speaker bottoming out on the low notes and clipping (a type of distortion) when you re-do the amp, running which ever set off it, just take a little bit of the bass away from the front speakers (whether they are on the amp or on the deck) see if that makes a difference. You should only need to change it by one or 2 to note a difference. It may only be happening in the one speaker because they are not all made exactly the same and it may be slightly weaker. If it is rattle, it could be from the locking mechanism in the door, it could be the speakerwire behind it or it may even be the plastic stripping on the outside of the door that rattles like it used to on the passenger side of my vl.... if there is anything else i can help with, just gimme a yell and i'll see what else i can do for ya mate... I don't claim to know it all about audio, but i'll see what i can do.

If he is running a 2 channel amp, he's not going to beable to set up his EQ to run more bass to the 6x9's over the 6's. From what i can figure, he's running a single left and right signal to the amp (from the RCAs), with this, its plugged into his amp. His front and rear right it joined to the + and - right channel, and his front and rear left is joined to the + and - left channel. If changed on the deck or on the amp, the signal is going to go to all 4 speakers exactly the same beacuse there is no distinction between front and rear. Only left and right. There would be no front to back fader ability, only left to right. I'm sorry if i'm getting this completely wrong, just doing my best to try and help out.
