You need to drill holes around the manual surround so you can screw the boot to the surround, I screwed it in so i can remove it if i have to, Use the smallest self tappers you can get, but make sure you drill the holes first other wise the surround might crack and you dont want that.
23102006021.jpg (http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/attachment.php?attachmentid=15498&d=1161612650)
Start screwing the boot in starting from the corners, dont worry if it starts to over lap when you are screwing it down as it wont matter when its in the car.

You need to cut the threaded part off the VL gear stick so the VZ gear knob sits down ferther, i just used a grinder.
23102006023.jpg (http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/attachment.php?attachmentid=15500&d=1161613349)
You need to cut it right at the start of the thread.
23102006024.jpg (http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/attachment.php?attachmentid=15501&d=1161613349)
You have to glue the knob on using a hot glue gun and make use you tuck the gear stick boot up under the gear knob and push it down on the Gear stick it will be a very snug fit.

And thats it all you've got todo now is install it.

Please Exsuse the state of my interor ive been doing alot of wiring lately.
i only got that knob cause it was the only leather one they had in stock. You can change the gear map as its only a sticker.
And you can swap and change the knobs from any of the vz range
As promised heres a pic of it finished and the gear map painted black.

To paint the gear map black pull the sticker off paint it and superglue it back on.
I reckon it looks tops .
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
I'm gonna do this soon.
Is there any way that you could screw the gearboot from higher up so that it doesn't look scrunched up? By looking at the pictures, there would be a fair bit of length left in the gearboot to allow this without the gearstick being visible below the gearknob.
When you shift into gears is the gearboot stretched to it's maximum?
Thanks!
So Magnum06.. yeh you can.. just to a certain point where it will be wanting to pull the manual surround outta the console lol..
P.S where can i buy a nice gear knob that will thread onto my gearstick?
Holden sell this particular gearknob VZ SS for over $200! RIP OFF!
I reckon it would have been more practical to sew velcro onto the boot skirt, and then stick velcro on the underside of the surround. that way the boot wont possibly tear (and at 73 a piece, i wouldnt want it to) and u dont have to drill the surround.
an idea when fittin the boot to the actuall shifter, instead or gluing it. turn the boot inside out and use a small zip tie and tie the top of the boot to the top of the shifter, then pull down the boot over the zip tie so its out side showing and the ziptie will be hidden away underneeth.
confused yet?
