Who runs a standard fuel reg then a malpassi?

When I bought my Malpassi a while back the bloke said to run the standard reg then the malpassi, reason being they don't cope with the large pulse from the pump and the standard one can act as the dampner. I've had a bit of a quiz at this thread below and they mention troubles with the malpassi. http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/showth...light=malpassi (http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/showthread.php?t=87435&highlight=malpassi) Before I install mine I install a fuel pressure gauge in the cabin to see what standard one runs at, 28 psi at idle and 47psi boosting at (engine) 12 psi. When I put it in I wound the idle fuel pressure to 32psi and this went to 60 odd psi at boost. This is fine but the fuel pressure gauge has started being really inconsistent like fluttering at small loads, fine at idle or when you back off and fine when boosting but flutters in between. I have installed the standard reg in between the rail and the malpassi to see if this settles the gauge down a bit. The gauge is getting pressure after the rail but before any of the regs. I am wondering if any else has expirienced this trouble with a malpassi and those who do have a standard reg and a malpassi do you have the vaccum hose hooked up to both or just the malpassi. I hooked it up to both other wise if i left it off the standard reg the idle pressure would be higher. I haven't driven it yet so i'm not sure if i've fixed the problem. cheers

in the old days when i had a malpassi i used the stock reg aswell as the malpassi. i had vacuum to both. i never had a pressure gauge though so i cant say if it suffered the same prob as u

Lol I don't have any dramas as far as I can tell Tim but I don't have a gauge so ... I can't really say does it have dramas when you are driving when the pressure is jumping around ?

not engine wise, still accelerates smoothly at medium load but the needle on the gauge flutters from like 40 to 60psi. what pressures does everyone run. does what i've described sound simliar.
