Gas tank in place of petrol tank

Looking at going straight gas, wondering where I could get a tank, or twin tanks or something, that would fit in place of the factory petrol tank and give OK clearance. What is the most capacity I could get? Also, will an Impco 425 supply enough gas for a 253 with 150rwkw? Is it possible to have a sender unit from an LPG gas tank tell me the level of gas left on my factory dash (VC Commodore)? If I get 250km from 60L of petrol, how much can I expect from 60L of LPG?

Ive heard you use 1/3 more fuel on gas than what you would on petrol, can anyone confirm? its still cheaper in the long run though. well for now.

You can get about 250k's when it's in tune and you go easy on it. depends on your setup. Mine takes about 60l in a fill, most gas tanks only fill to 80% capacity or so so they don't explode when they're full and hot ... so a 80l tank will only take 64 litres or so. I'm thinking of pulling out my fuel tank and replacing it with and under car tank and a donut tank in the spare wheel well to get the range up... as 200k's is a pain in the backside. Jamie

I spoke to someone today who said you couldn't fit any sort of tank under there, but I saw those manifold tanks on the APA website that might fit, or perhaps twin tanks that have less diameter.

nah, they use a sort of pan. cut out a large hole in the boot and put a pan in the hole, tank in the pan, metal over the pan, carpet over the metal and you'll never know untill you look under the car. you could easily get a pan big enough to fit a 90L tank. that could replace the other one or you could join them, i think you would need to do that by having the filler going to the highest tank and the service line comign from the lowest tank. not sure on how you would go about joining the two together, beign so far apart that is...
