Have you been in cars running this engine? While they do rev their tits off & can cop a real constant floggin, Ive found them seriously lacking in the torque department. Why dont you spend you hard labour & cash in converting the atmo to a turbo? Sorry to rain on your parade dude, but Ive seen quite a few guys go this route only to revert back to the 30T. Check forums, ebay etc...theres heaps of bolt on stuff now available for the RB30.

Mate, can you please point out where he asked for your opinion of the RB20? If you can't, then your post is effectively spam.

i dont c why **** heads who know nothing say " you wqill bve lacking tourque bla bal insert penis on head here" when u do a conversion like this do u think off boost tourque is a no1 priority. or going up that hill keeping the thing off boost in 3rd gear last time 1 checked NO its about geting cheep boost. and i c nothing wrong with doing it. lotsa revs take a fair beating cant go wrong for a 1st turbo motor. with small mods, eg fmic and a rb25 turbo ive seen just on 200 rwkw and that thing wenk prity good and had a sound of its own. if ppl could afford to put a rb30et in there car they mite do it. but not always cos they dont want a motor that is 20 years old and not that smooth compaired to the rb20 and also later down the track this lad could build a rb25/30det highbrid and slot it strait in make more power.

this has aways been a werid subject i have done the rb20 thing, i suppose u have to decide what u want, i needed and engine and box, did the converstion my self, cost 2k frothe engine ecu and box, to get a second hand rb30et engine is alot more than that! so it worked, it was fun do drive beat the v6's and kept with most 8's only ran it on 11psi, and had 100kw at the wheels, which is what a standard rb30et has anyways! the vl is lighter than the r32 so it works there it will work in the vl, only issue is the diff gears (which why people say the are slugish put 3.9's 4.11's in and u wont have that issue! if u are only wanting smoothing to aroudn the 200kw mark go the rb20, if u are waiting to push more then go the 30, or 25 or even 26 Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

no need to make it a stupid fight in here, the rb20 does not have the torque of the larger motors, but it is a cheap motor and they run alot nicer then the 3lt. also the rb20 is good on fuel if you don't flog it all the time. it's a personal choice, if you have the car to take the rb20 from then do it, the worst thing that can happen is that you won't like it and put a 3lt back in.

Ive see it happen in the R31Skyline club. All that effort in buying & changin to something theyre not happy with only to go back to something you already had. You can bolt turbo gear onto the N/A engine with the right intercooler & management no prob. 1 fella in the club did this to achieve 205rwkw on only 9psi in his GTS2, all without having to remove the engine, wiring etc.

So what mate, fact is that he hasn't asked for opinions on what he's doing. Your post is just about as useful as me putting my 2c into every tech thread with "don't bother with the RB30, put a 2J in" or "get rid of your POS VL and buy a skyline".

You haven't really asked a question tho have you now. You might have led in with a question, but you also took the liberty to answer it yourself, and neither your question nor your answer has much to do with the original query. Also if you only wanted to direct this at SAVL5SPD, then you could have sent him a PM. But instead you posted it, which means everyone gets to add their 2c. It is a discussion board after all. This it getting way OT.
