hey just wonderin has anyone on here got there afm adjusted after they have extractors,2.5 inch exhaust, aftermarket air filter, cold air induction and advanced the timing. im thinkin it would be a good idea after doin the mods to get it done thats what ive been told by a performance shop. has anyone else bothered gettin it done or reckon its a good idea?

The AFM has nothing to do with the exhaust, the O2 sensor takes care of that department. But anyway, the factory setting is.386 across pins 1 and 6.

Around about 386 ohms of resistance across the first and last pin... They will all vary slightly... Adjusting the AFM will either 'lean out' or 'richen' the fuel mixture set by the computer after it reads the air flow rate. So turning clockwise will increase the resistance which will 'richen' the mixture, whereby turning anti-clockwise will 'lean out' the mixture. If it has never been done before on your car, you will need to crack open the cap that is over the screw with the screw driver.

im just sayin on a motor when u modify it u have to change the fuel/air mixture to compensate with the modifications and when the motor breathes better with those mods listed it will run leaner and will need to be richened up (more fuel) what im wonderin will adjustin the air flow meter do this. I asked a performance shop why ive lost bottom end power since ive added these mods and he said i might have to get the afm adjusted because it will be runnin lean now and im sure the computer can only adjust so far to these mods being fitted. so does the afm need adjustin it must help with air mixture

1vl_rb30 Can't see how things would be different with the mods mentioned, not enough of a change to make a difference. Is the aftermarket air filter in fact better, take the filter out & just see if the bottom end power returns. Also disconnect the cold air intake & give it a run. Check to see that the timing is advanced & not retarded.

Sports exhausts don't really start working well until they hit a higher rev range than the stocko because of the pipe diameter and less restriction. You would have picked up more top end power tho? Like when you tramp it at 70 km/h? but not as good off the line.

2 1/4 for the exhaust. Im pretty sure the resistance is 384, not 386. But I spose as long as your close its not too bad

I've got 2.5 with pacies and stock cat and I accept the loss of low end power and torque for more high revving mayhem LOL. 2.5 is ok with the stock CAT and both resinator and standard muffler fitted. If you go for a cannon or hi flow muffler forget about back pressure LOL

do ya use a multimeter to test the afm.

if you have a greater air volume flowing through the AFM it will automaticly richen the mixture to suit (give or take a little)... its only adjusted to compensate to the higher air flow of a turbo.

mate to make it easyer place the + and - of the multi meter on pins 1 and 6 it should read 3.66 valts across them u dont need the car running just the ignition on if it doesnt then adjust it till it does using the screw as for the oxy sensor that only helps the computer from idol up to 2000rpm u dont need to adjust anything for minor mods as the afm does the work for u
