Its official i have destroyed the main bearing in my car. So now it is time for a rebuild of the bottom end. I have been driving around for months with this noise and couldn't figure out what it was, then i decided to put it on the dyno and noticed i had lost a lot of power, so i took it to my mechanic and he diagnosed it to be the main bearing. So im up for a rebuild, so im going to get it done when my car is getting painted, that way i can get parts all powdercoted and make the engine bay look good. Now i'm considering my options and i would like peoples opinions on what to do. I'm thinking of keeping it a n/a and getting the bottom end done, so it can handle NO2, and making more power than what i already have at the wheel's and running high-mid13's. I might as well also put a larger cam in, etc (as i already have the largest reground wade), to give it a little more. Im also considering going turbo, but i really cant be bothered spending the extra $$$'s to make it go as fast as i want it to (11's), plus i would also have to change the gearbox etc and i rather just buy one. Plus everyman and his dog has one these days and i dont wanna be another sheep. Supercharging is also an option, but the only downfall is getting a engineers certificate and it passed through epa. What do people think. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I know ya don't wanna be a sheep but why not just get a rebuild to turbo specs and a hi flow setup? Bit more power for only a little bit more $$ i spose, mainly for turbo manifold etc

Yeah it could be a good plan, 11's would take a lot of money on an NA and would be half of the cost with a turbo. For your motor to handle the giggle gas or forced induction for 11's I would suggest: *Balanced forged pistons *Blueprinting and cracktesting the block *Shotpeened crank *raising the compression *titanium valve springs *port and polish the head *Cam and computer to suit your desired application *Aftermarket plenum *upgraded diff (to 28 spline turbo) *1 piece tailshaft *Tricked up standard box or turbo box. *upgraded fuel system *250-300hp wet shot of gas (this is allot of gas)(Gas is illegal on the street too). *brake and suspension upgrade I estimate around $15,000-$20,000 for it to be done right and safely. And $7000-$10,000 for turbo with these numbers. Go with the turbo setup, or if you want to be really different go for an L67 transplant and add more boost (supercharged V6 from a later model) But hey its your ride so you do what you feel is best.

lol. i dont wanna run 11's on a n/a, that was with turbo set-up. i want to run anywhere in the 13's as a n/a. The only reason stopping me going turbo is that i will have to change so many things like, computer, upgrade gearbox, turbo, manifold, 3" zorst, injectors, cooler + piping etc, etc. And if i buy a turbo second hand set-up i will be just inheriting other peoples problems, at least i will know what is done to mine. where as if i keep it n/a i will only have to do the bottom end. decisions decisions.

buy a shagged turbo bottom end and rebuild the sucker to stock specs. Probably cost nearly the same.

Go with the bottom end rebuild. get the crank done (balance, oil holes, nitrided bla bla bla) and throw some giggle gas at it. I think you might go better than mid 13's. Dunno? Someones gotta try it and your right at the point to be nominated for it! lol

LOL K fair enough then, yeah you should get 13's without much fuss. maybe chip/cam, extractors, exhaust,xf TB, then add the 100hp shot of gas and you should see 250fwkw in a 1200kg car should be good for 13's maybe even 12's

My mechanic laughed when i said i wanted it and said i have come to the right place. He is old school and loves n/a whether the be 6 or 8. He said less troubles and cheaper to repair than turbo's. Mind you he drives a 600hp street registered car with a 400hp shot of NOS. He had a run at calder and smoked the wheels at the start, backed off and then smoked them again from half track with nitrous to the end of the track. It was mad. Then the officials told him to get lost and come back when he gets a cage. I already have everything yhou have stated above ucwepn plus more. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
