i was wondering if any1 has put a turbo 400 or 350 in behind there rb30et or det.
im building what i hope will be a fairly tuff rb25/30 mhopefully making a fair bit of power.
i was thinking that a turbo 400 would be strong enuff and have a good enuff first gear so that when it is up on the trans brake it wont get a heap of tyre shake or whatever when the brake is releiced.
its a tos up between a trimatic and this.
i dont want a jatco so dont sugest it. and i dont want a 2 speed so its out too.
will a trimatic cope with the power and the transbrake.?
or will it just brake the imput shafts or burn it self out all the time.

TH400 will require tunnel mods and cost more power to run than any other transmission.
The TH400 has the same ratios as a C4 and JATCO so your information on transbrake release is flawed. The lower the 1st gear ratio the greater tyre shock on transbrake brake release.
Reliability wise, in high powered- medium weight and up cars, a Transbrake Trimatic is marginal. Some work others don't. Kinda like lotto.

the other option is to spend some money on your Trimatic - or traumatic as they're affectionately known. When the arse dropped out of the Aussie dollar, it made economic sense to tool up and make uprated parts for the Trimatic, so it's not uncommon to see the humble three-speed behind some extremely fast drag cars. There are plenty of people around these days who can build a strong Trimatic with a suitiable shift-pattern for street or strip work. Why not simply build up a tough, sweet-shifting Trimatic instead of trying to bolt up a completely different 'box?

you obviously havent had much luck with jatco.
i will say it. go a jatco only if paul from KEAS builds it.
the amount of r&d he has done with these boxes is unbelievable. he has them running nines all day everyday. I have one running tens and it will not miss a beat. as for input shafts, the top of the range box he sells, even if you need them in a lower box can be done so it will never break.
he uses vasco shafts from overseas. and these things will never break.
proof is in the pudding, look at cars like GAS747, ONABAR, GRMACE, DUZ10S just to name a few, hipo cars with jatco's running strong.
