God cars piss me off but i just got home after a bad day
So im driving to blinks house, car is running sweet, wasnt thrashing it or anything stupid, matt gets in the car, we drive 5min up the road, (very slowly, trying to get my ipod to work) and sudddenly a CLUNK CLUNK CLUNK noise comes from the gearbox/tailshaft, so i pull into a driveway and reach and under and there was only a tiny amount of movement in the tailshaft, so i knew it wasnt the flange bolts...
So we went back to matts house and called the RAA (roadside assistance in SA). I checked the diff while they were coming and that was sweet.
RAA guy was of no use at all, just goes 'yep, tow truck' which would of cost me a fair bit because i only get 8kms free towing.
So ive thought, fcuk it, im going home, will try and get as far as i can and save some money, driven up the road for a few minutes when it started to get pretty bad
The car began to vibrate heavily when suddenly, the noise stops
Made it home without anymore issues
So in summary
-Made a loud noise while the car was rolling, only when the car was in gear, in neutral/clutch in it was fine
- Got really bad, was about to pull over and the noise stops...
Think i will take it over to my mechanic tomorrow to check it out but i want to know now
Cheers,
Jeff

check your unis, or your centre bearing.. Had the same problem in mine, centre bearing let go *in dandy an hour away from home* car clunked and vibrated like no tomorrow.. Lifesaving mate trailered it home (considering i had 2 hours to get to work), took it to the mechanic and had the uni and centre changed, and tailshaft machined.. Apparently tailshaft wasnt sitting straight as i have a r33 gearbox and somehow it just left a whole lot of load on the centre and yeh..
wasnt an expensive job.. all the best in findin it though
Cheers

tailshaft is ok, centre bearing and uni joints all look good, my old man thinks its the diff, geuss i will just have to wait untill it starts making the noise again...
$10 says it will happen when im the longest distance from home
