your rack is ****t like if your in a st8 line and you can move the wheel like 100mm side to side and the car doesnt move it's the rack.

ive driven a car with the same symptoms and it was all in the suspension. the guys at pedders said they had never seen anything like it and it was lucky to still be on the road. the bearings on the strut towers had worn so badly that the whole car was at risk of crashing at any second. the symptoms were steering so light you could have gone full lock at 100kph using only your little finger we initially replaced the rack with a known working one and symptoms persisted,so we saw a doctor!

overinflated tyres makes for light steering aswell. simple check , try it first.

I have had this problem twice and in my experience it was the rack. There is a small valve that controls how much power steering fluid can enter the rack. That can fault and excessive amounts of fluid enter causing the rack to be very light. If you hit a bump hard enough you can damage it, which basically allows you to smin the steering wheel lock to lock by blowing. There is also an adjustment on the VL racks underneath (looks like a really big Allen key whole) and you can tighten that as well, however you will most likely need a replacement rack. About $300 tops exchange. -Mark
