Hey.. I got offered a skyline rb20det 5 speed gearbox for cheap ... Ive got a VL exec auto and was planning on doing a manual conversion ... will the rb20 5 speed bolt up my engine? and will i need to get the other conversion parts like foot pedals and computer from the RB20 or the RB30?

i know i will need a pedal box... but will i need the pedal box from the rb20 or rb30? or doesnt it matter? and are you sure the gearbox will fit?

all RB pattens are the same... the box matches the car.. not the gearbox... fick... You may need to change crossmembers.. Thats all.. And tailshaft for sure.

Pretty sure the MF5 and RB20 crossmembers are the same. You'll need an MF5 tailshaft, and the RB20 slave cylinder.

Depends if you go through a wrecker or private sale. $550 is about right if its from a wrecker. I found one in perfect running condition for $200 down here once but by the time I rang up it was sold! Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I dont know how you'll go with a tailshaft from a totally different car.

I also believe you will get away with using the auto ecu. But a manual ecu won't work for an auto box. (is that how it goes?)

Yep. I still havent changed my ecu. You will have to **** around with the neutral start switch aswell cause your going from auto manual. If required i can take a picture of the wires for the neutral start switch you have to bridge to make it start. I dont know about the RB20 box but with the MF5 i had to get longer bolts for the box because the auto ones didnt reach. I found i very difficult to change the pedal box so in the end i put the pedals on the auto pedal box whilst it was still in the car(the brackets are both the same just the pedal are different). ah
