I want to change the throttle body on my vp to an ecotech one as the ecotech ones are larger but i need some help regarding things i have to change to make it work. It will bolt onto the manifold but i need some help from here on, and any help at all will be greatly appreciated!!! Cheers guys! Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I don't know anything about the ecotec throttlebodies but if you haven't bought the throttlebody yet try and get the 5 litre throttle body instead. It is larger than the stock V6 one and bolts straight up.

I got the ecotech t-b for nothing and these ones are 64mm, the non ecotech ones are 60mm so this is the main reason i want to swap it over. I have worked out that the only thing stopping me now is the vacc lines, the ecotech t-b has none where as mine has two running to my charcoal cannister. I have tried to find info on the commsport turbo vn but have had no luck, it runs an ecotech t-b and i want to know what they did about the vacc hoses. Ok, did an experiment this morning, took the two vacc hoses off my original throttle body while the engine was running and as far as i know it had no affect at all, no drop or increase in idle, everything ran fine as far as i could tell so that apparently solves that problem now all i have to do is swap the throttle connection over to the ecotec one because they have a different cable. The non ecotec one just unbolts from the top but the ecotec one doesn't, i can't work out how it comes off, anyone know how to take them apart? Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Update: Swapped the throttle linkage over from the non ecotec one but have to mount it upside down. So far i know that the ecotec t-b will bolt up to the manifold, i dont need the vacc hoses (plug them up and hide them), have to leave the original top plate in place and have to swap the throttle linkage over and mount it upside down as the butterfly opens the opposite way on the ecotec t-b. I will let you guys know how it works tonight as it should be all finished by then. Cheers! Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Didn't get a chance to finish it last night but am going to be finishing it off on the weekend because i noticed the ecotec t-b has a hump on the manifold side and it looks a bit restrictive so i'm having that honed down. I did have a quick go at mounting the throttle linkage onto the ecotec t-b and seems like it will work fine. I'll keep updating as i go along. I'll try to get some pics up when it's finished Cheers guys! Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Did you take out the plastic bell mouth behind the throttlebody? Is it on yet?

No offense but its a waste of time. You really think 4mm extra out of a standard engine with a slightly larger throattle body is going to make that much of a difference. be lucky to see 2-4hp if that. Trust me my mate got me to put a ported throattle body on his vt v6 and it made sweet **** all difference.
