Links are fantastic ECU's... id much rather one than some other cheap brands. I know of one link currently supporting 320rwkw.

yer thats good to no
my mechanic reckons i should be makin round 230 rwkw's with standerd injeckors just have to max them out and turn it right
then cant wait to take it back down to calder i would like to run 12.5 or less hope i can get there

If you own a skyline - why not go a powerFC, I mean link computers are great and all I'm sure, but it's very very hard to go past a PFC for value+features.

yer i thougt about them but my under standing from a power FC is that its just a plug on system not the hole module i can pick a power FC up for 970 bucks and a link comp for 1300 so for value for money i thought it would be better off with the link.
thanks guys jason.

Yeah its a common misunderstanding. The powerFC is a complete STANDALONE ecu - you can throw away your existing ECU. The only thing is that it plugs directly into the skyline wiring loom without modifications needed (which is a massive advantage). You can simply plug it in, run through it's idle self-learning (automatically gives you near perfect idle) and then drive it around without any more tuning needed. Although its probably worthwhile having the a/f ratios checked out on a dyno. Every aspect on the powerFC can be tuned by a workshop, via a computer. Almost all options are accessable and tunable via the hand controller too.
I would 100% go a powerFC on a skyline, the only other ecu I would consider 'better' is something like an autronic.

yer thanks mate i might have to look in to that and ill let you guys no witch way i go and what dyno power i can make oh yer and i have a T4 as well i fegot about that

bugger the PowerFC, get a GTR or GTS plug and play link with active knock control and boost control built in.
can tune with h/controller or laptop as well.

Yep I use one on my car, and it's awesome - another bonus is that it's designed for a certain model of car and comes with a base map, so you get a car that works basically as it did standard (ie retaining all functionality+idle+drivability) but with all the tuning options of other ECU's available.

The powerFC has a boost controller function built in as well, just need the solenoid to control it. And has 'knock sensing' - what does active knock control do?

08-08-06, 21:43 GMT+10#10 powerfc you need to spend extra hundreds on the boost control solonoid, link can use any old solonoid (configurable)
active knock control means it not only shows knock (all the powerfc does) but it will actually retard the timing, like the factory ecu to protect against detonation. (all configurable as well)
to be honest i don't think many people know that the link plugin ecu's exist for GTS skylines.
at $1450 odd from AVO they represent good value i reckon.
edit: forgot to mention they use a map sensor instead of air flow meter, which can be another bonus.

08-08-06, 22:06 GMT+10#12 PowerFC's plug right in too you can get the d-jetro version for an extra few hundred which uses MAP instead of AFM.
With the knock sensing, the powerFC will flash the engine light on the dash at you if it registers too much.
Just to clarify - I'm not bagging the link ecu, but the PFC is just as good imo.

08-08-06, 22:12 GMT+10#14 It is basically a microphone - skylines use twin knock sensors screwed into the block, and they are fine tuned for the sound of 'knocking' - which is generally the engine leaning out / pinging, and the sound can be hard to detect just by ear when you're driving along under load - so the ECU looks after it for you!

Hell no, nothing wrong with PowerFC at all
I so much wish the VL had all these engine management options to choose from as well.

14-08-06, 23:07 GMT+10#18 A Link ecu has been looking after mine for 3 years now and never had a problem, they are great makes 320rwkw and an awsome power line on the dyno, having said that the computer is only as good as the guy tuning it aswell. On the track there are ao many good features about the link, overboost control, knock control, digital temperature read out on the hand controller and also knock display on the hand controller.
Just try to stay away from launch control, mate haad it on his r33 could never get it to work right, turned it off and it was a completely different car much better.
