Hey Guys,
I know there's heaps of upgrades available for the VL front disk's, VT, skyline calipers/rotors etc... Has anyone done an upgrade for the rear disks?, would VN rear rotors fit on a VL? Any other options people know about?
Cheers

You could use VN GPA / SV 5000 rear rotors and calipers....They are a little bigger , 281mm and also ventilated and use the corvette type single piston caliper....If $$$$$$$$$$ are not an issue , why not use VT/VX HSV 4 piston calipers and 315mm rotors , Harrop in melb can supply you with the mods you need to fit.

As far as I know VT/VX HSV's use twin piston front and single piston rear, with non ventilated rear rotors. The first HSV's with 4 piston calipers to my knowledge were the VY Senator Signature and VY GTS.

I'm pretty sure every IRS model commodore has ventilated rears, and 4 piston brake upgrades were an option on all of the HSVs from VT onwards. but later model rear upgrades fall into the too hard category if you ask me. (unless you have lots of cash) Dollar wise I recon the best upgrade u could do is the VN Grpa/SV5000 rear upgrade using RDA disks (280x20mm I think? about $140 each from the commodore cup site) And use std or turbo front callipers with some kind of adapter-Like the commodore cup guys do

none of the commodores in the standard range have ventilated rear discs. Vented rears was only available on the HSV's and even then for some unknown reason the HSV XU6 and clubsport from VT onwards got rear solid discs, all models above the clubsport got vented rears. But even in the clubsport range there was exceptions to this, the standard version of the clubsport got solid rears but the clubsport R8 got vented rears.

VLT's use hub type rotors up front with no internal drum for the handbrake, rears are a hat style rotor with an internal drum. So no you cant use front VLT rotors on the back. The calipers can be used but you'll an adaptor to suit whatever rotor you decide to use.
Is there an answer from someone other than VLHERO ???
Im sure I've heard of someone from this forum using aftermarket VLT front rotors on their rear end...

Hmmm Ok, I thought when I last looked in the DBA part list there were lots of vented rear rotors for commodores post 93/94. Maybe my memory is failing me. If in doubt check the online PDF that dba have with part numbers and specs. Its pretty handy (although they recon the vn group a had 4 piston callipers!)
