For those that aren't sick of my threads... Engine: EFI 5.0 + 4spd auto (TH700) Done 200,000kms. Given $3500-$4000 budget, what would you do to get it up and moving? Would I get it rebuilt as a 355 stroker for this budget? So a nice big cam, stroker crank and basically new bearings etc, rebuilt. Rebuild it as 304? Opinions..? Am i dreaming or is it well and truly viable?

Yeah I'd like to hear what sorta opinions/options there is for the 304.

From the research I have done the best value mod is a reconditioned Vortech V-1 from Capa for $1,695. You need to get a bracket made up (or buy one from Capa), drive belt assembly, injectors, pump, and reprogram factory computer. You probably done this research yourself but the more I think about it, the more it seems to make sense

Ok with $3000 do a basic reco small bump stick and good head gaskets it'll be a decent motor then Then Just fork out $1000 (maybe not even) for a gas kit and spray away! The motor will cop a 100 shot any day of the week just make sure your gas kit is setup correctly! Seriously this way you'll have a nice fresh motor (won't be a ball tearer but hey? it'll do what your wallet allows!) No reason with this combo you wouldn't run a low 12 to high 11! My opinion anyways Kurt

I refuse to use nitrous. If it's going to have power, it's going to do it all day every day on the street. Thanks for your opinion though!

I'd prefer to stick to the injection at the moment.

I know where your coming from but on your budget there's not many other choices...... unless you want to put a blower kit on a 200,000km motor? It will go great but I don't know for how long personally I'd keep saving keep this in mind too the combo I was saying for you to run would also be blower friendly for later on too when you got more $$$$ just don't give the motor too much comp Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

yeah man you would be a little disappointed if you spent $3,000 on a basic rebuild and didn’t get much extra power. It would be sensible, but not much fun

You know you arent going to be happy till you have one, now you have the perfect car to do it with, just put the motor in, strap the puffer up and wait for the pop. Then open up the check book forged bottom end fuel pump injectors and boost the bitch! Oh yeah then boost it some more!

i would say charge, but at them kays its too risky... u could get away with it for that cash too. You wont pull a stroker off either unless u are able to do some bits yourself, like assembly. Id say just a mild rebuild with acl's e.t.c, machine the factor crank and rods, get a little head porting... get a bigger sump, dont over spend then save a little more and charge the bitch, she'll hold forever and make more power than the stroker ever would of.
