Gday guy this is my first post here I hope this is the right place to post this new thread. For years I've always had a soft spot for VL's but every time I seemed to purchase another car I always overlooked the VL. Dunno why probably because if it didn't have a Oval badge the old man would throw rocks at it, if it came up the drive :-) But the time has finally come and I have the funds so it's time to go for it. All I'm really after guys and gals is a good wholesome run down on the VL Turbo. Things to watch out for, how well certain aspects of the cars hold up and any other general info that you may think might help. Also you'll probably see me around here heaps asking about the fundamentals of turbo charging and all the nitty gritty that comes along with it, as this will be my first turbo applicaton, NA's over the years have slowly drained my soul and left me wanting more bang for my buck, so to speak. So it is FINALLY TURBO time Thanks in advance ppl..... Jay* Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Rust is the biggest thing you need to look for. Noises in the engine. Blowby and all that. If you really want to go into more depth use the search feature at the top of this page. It will tell you more than I ever will.

RUN........run away and never look back, if you value your life and wallet for god sakes RUN........and if you decide to come back get me a flayva mmmmmmmmm. but seriously........look for excessive tapping on start up, if it doesn't disappear in like 5 secs and it keeps going........might be an idea to look elsewhere. Most will have problems with CAS (crank angle sensor) and AFM (uuuhhhhh help me out here, mass airflow metre maybe) but are easilt fixed.

No not just Fords. I'm certainly don't have a biased opinion on which is better. Yeah I had a few Fords but I've also had Holdens, a Valiant and a few other I'd Prefer not to mention, oh and stocs101 I value my wallet to a degree but the missus had to have a bloody Jeep and my goodness mate these things suck the last penny outta ya so the way I look at is, if the Jeep is gonna bleed the funds dry It's now gonna have to share the cash around:-) Also the missus and her Jeep have got five fifths of f**k all chance of getting back in the Garage lol. The tapping you were talking about, where should this tapping becoming from. Lifters, rockers, valves, oil pump, rods?

Your best bet is to look to buy a clean standard looking VL Turbo that's had time and money spent on it, as opposed to the first VL Turbo you spot, which sounds like it could be painted Orange...

dont think anyone is scared of cops! its the fact that no 1 wants to spend thousands on fines and epa's! and yes wait till you hit your p plates! it will be a different story then lol Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

P Platers have mates in their cars as L drivers have their old man/ old girl in the passenger seat. The only time a L Plater is going to get pulled over is if his speeding or has no seat belt on...On the other hand P Platers get bent over nicely when they get pulled over in a VL.
